Solving SOTA encounter issues:

If a player plays in private mode, -15 XP gained;

If the player plays in open mode, +35% XP gained including craft;

If the player plays in PVP mode, +35% XP gained including craft;

This way, a player who only wants to gather resources can play in private mode.

If they want to gather XP, they would have to share the map with other players, which would help with encounters between players and thus gain +35% XP.

A few weeks ago I tried crafting a bunch of common cloaks and front clasp cloaks and salvaging them for patterns to give me some more stylish options. However, after salvaging a few dozen of those I still didn't have a single pattern and was running low on resources.

I briefly experimented this morning, with my fire mage, and the damage penalty is a real killer, but I wasn't using any regen potions to see how well those would offset. I did have soothing rain and healing grace on part of it.

Am I wasting my time with it with no death spell usage?
