I'd just like more music and rotation of it period since after 1000+ hours I've muted it after hearing the same song over and over even within the variety the soundtrack has, it usually is just the same couple songs playing.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new method too. This one might have gotten too stylized over time, getting in the way of the overall game play. I don't know about the politics behind the change and I sure can't fault the new system. So many times I've stopped just to look at the sky and the mountains.

I'm in love with that song!

Thank you @Duke Gréagóir for sharing with us all.

Definitely we need more Overworld songs.

(sorry, greagoir, was not actually expecting that comment to derail the thread.)

hey @Bread Vendor, can any of these old songs be re-integrated?

I don't miss that map at all. :)

I'd even prefer a truly old school style map like this instead of that map:

If they dropped the 2D pop-up cut-outs and just kept it truly flat, I'd probably be ok with it.

I liked it a lot because, as I think I said at the time, the overhead map sort of takes the player out of immersion, so why not go the whole hog and make it look like a map, rather than what we ended up with.

Of course, it didn't happen that way.... life moves on, etc... but I hear you, OP, because I liked the idea at the time - a lot - and I still like it now. For different reasons to you, ultimately, but I still like it.

Of course, immersion was one of the main arguments that the proponents of our current overland map provided as a argument in support of ditching the 'cloth' map.
Which is the problem with terms like 'immersion' and 'meaningful PvP'... there is no definition of what those terms mean... they're highly subjective. If you ask 20 people what makes a game immersive, you will get 20 different answers.

Disagree with this. The core concept is understood and shared by many, though the semantics used to describe it may differ - the sense of feeling inside of or genuinely a part of an experience.
It is also quite easy to group those 20 different answers into "dimensions" or types and categories. Some are sensory (audio/visual); some with design choices; some even with technology.
In other words, it is the "blind men and the elephant" analogy; all describing the same sensory perception that draws one into an experience (since it is a combination of dimensions that is required) but approaching it from different angles. Semantic jujitsu.

That said, I wouldn't mind the cloth map returning to address sea & airship travel... that would be interesting...

To me, the cloth overworld map gives it more of an ultima feel. I was expecting more when they converted to the new overworld map. Now that I see what it has become I feel the cloth overworld map would have been just fine. I would not mind switching back to the cloth overworld map.

And what provides that sense or feeling is going to differ significantly from individual to individual.

Especially if we could get my covetted 90FPS! @Rufus D`Asperdi I admit that SoTA isn't a democracy, hell the U.S. isn't even a democratic country. We have a representative government as some of learned a painful lesson this time.
I don't think that whales get the vote otherwise BDF would still be here. :( I'm more of a bloated popeyed goldfish: I give my opinion about features and when they don't listen I say "See, I &%*#ing told you!" In this case it was more of a "do what you want, you're going to anyway." I am happy to be able to say it looks a heck of a lot better than I thought it would. It is one of those cases where I'm pleasantly suprised.

Right, 90 FPS on the world map, where it doesn't really matter.
