    The Advanced Guide to Agriculture

Amazing! I didn’t expect you to survive this long and still stick around to read this far. Congratulation, you’re the 25% of the players that survived the initial round. At this stage, you have gained a solid basic agriculture knowledge and foundation to move forward as a Journeyman Farmer. Now, you are good at timing your water duration, maximizing your crops’ yield outputs, knowing what type of seeds to grown, and where to purchase your seeds. Your next task is to learn how to farm on a larger scale to maximize your crop’s yield & profit.

You can pick your route depends on how you want to play and your budget. There are no rights or wrong ways in farming; everything is subjective to your taste.

    1. Upgrade your Row lot to a Village lot and add a Basement (optional) – Using large/medium/small/pots to farm to maximize your output and profit. You can buy or make two Rusted Iron Greenhouses or leave the Village lot empty for farming is up to your taste and play style.

    OR

    2. Upgrade your original row house to a 4-Level Row Greenhouse and add a basement – You can combine using your greenhouse, indoor, and basement (optional) to maximize your output and profit.

    Required Knowledge:

    1. Price/Profit Chart
    [IMG]

    2. Decoration (Deco) limit for lot sizes (Outdoor/Indoor) and basements

    a. Row Lot = 10 outdoor; 400 indoor; 2,000 basement

    b. Village Lot = 475 outdoor; 475 indoor; 2,375 basement

    c. Town lot = 800 outdoor; 800 indoor; 4,000 basement

    d. City lot = 1,125 outdoor; 1,125 indoor; 5,625 basement

    e. Keep lot = 1,750 outdoor; 2,150 indoor; 10,750 basement

    f. Castle lot = 2,200 outdoor; 3,200 indoor; 16,000 basement

    3. Indoor and Basement Planting (0.1x) https://www.sotalore.com/farming

    a. Fast seed: 240 hours / 3 days= 80 hours between watering.

    b. Medium seed = 480 / 3 = 160 hours between watering

    c. Slow seed = 720 / 3 = 240 hours between watering

    Tools & Equipment required:

    1. Indestructible Hoe (Buy from Players’ vendor)

    2. Expand your lot to a village or larger size

    3. (Optional) Rusted Iron Greenhouse http://sotawiki.net/sota/Rusted_Iron_Greenhouse

    4. (Optional) Four-Story Row Greenhouse http://sotawiki.net/sota/Greenhouse_Four-Story_(Row_Home)

    5. Ctrl-E and Ctrl-Q to rotate the planter beds to a 45/90 degree; Shift-Q/E slow rotate item

    6. Time is valuable, so always have your seeds and water ready in your inventory before you harvest your crops. Always start in this sequence: Harvest>Sow seeds>Water…repeat same steps at another spot

    Tips:

    1. Invest in an Indestructible Hoe (Buy from Players' vendors)

    2. Upgrade your lot size to yield more output

    3. (Optional) buy a Basement (cheaper to buy from Players)

    4. Use Excel Spreadsheet to keep track of your water/harvest times, and/or a timer/alarm on your smart phone

    5. Don’t have much time to play? Use your Magic Mover option to switch between empty lot for farming during the weekdays, and greenhouse lot for farming during the weekends.

    Happy Farming!

Nice work @Adrian (Kung Fu Master) . Hopefully updates to agriculture will enhance and encourage more use of agriculture in the game one day soon. Thanks for doing this. :)

I prefer to sow all the seeds and then do a round of watering that way if you're watering at the start of next window opening there's no delay between batches.

Yes it is excluded. I didn't include in the overhead costs because they are different for each player.

Ah, my mentor showed up :)
For me, I find it's faster to Sow>Water at the same location because the cool down period is about 1 sec apart. I see your point as well, as soon as you walk to the next location/spot, the cool down timer is completed. Great tip.

The "sell price" should really factor in the cost of water.
If you are growing large scale, collecting buckets of water from a fountain, is time prohibitive.

The chart is only a general guide. You can add all kind of costs - water, property tax, rent, etc to the cost line depend on your path.

Again, I’m trying to avoid talking about cost accounting because it’s not within the scope of this guide.

    True -
I have found I can get just over 300 an hour - reading a book, or watching a TV show / movie.
My "E" finger does get rather tired.

    Excellent guide!

I wish I could make an app where a timer can be chosen for each of the crops planted and by choosing the appropriate crop and environment the app automatically sets the alarm for watering times.

There was an A.R.K. companion app that created persistent times, that would be cool.

But I use https://www.sotalore.com/farming to keep track right now. Great page!

If anyone knows a water seller please send them my way. I like to buy serious amount of water every 2 days.
