I'm repairing a tool for the first time (a pickaxe).

    http://sotawiki.net/sota/Repair_Kit_-_Tool

From what this article says, I need to drag a tool repair kit, the item to repair and a blacksmithing hammer onto a backsmith station.

I tried doing this but the interface won't let me drap the pixaxe (item to repair) or the smitthing hammer into the upper window of the blacksmithing station.

I tried to unequip the pickaxe and still couldn't drag it over.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!

Does the smithing hammer really need to be drug into the upper window? With all other repairs I've done (broken weapons and armor) just having the tool equipped seems to work fine.

the article was made using standard text about repair kits, but it shouldn't have been applied to tool repair. you can ONLY do field repairs on them. fixing now.

If it isn't clear from Alley Oop's post, just drag the repair kit onto the tool. You can't use the stations to repair tools.

You repair an item at the same station it would be crafted and since tools aren't crafted they're not repaired at a station.

Also, molds and other tool-like objects that you don't equip are not repairable at all. Maybe someday, but not now.

Is there a recipe for the repair kit - Tools or only purchase from an NPC?

These are only purchased from an NPC.

to repair a tool just drag a tool repair kit in your inventory to the tool that needs repairing.
A quick video on the topic Hope you find it usefull

I always have trouble repairing tools if I have a lot of inventory. So often in my inventory the damaged tool (alphabetically) is too far away from where the repair kits are listed to drag one to the other. Any tricks?

Put the repair tools in a bag, then you can open up the bag in a separate window.

Open your skills panel. Go to the relevant skill. Drag and drop the repair kit onto the tool displayed in the skills panel

    - Put your repair kits in a container that is not your inventory, drag across to your inventory
    - Get creative with the search filter so that both can appear in the window at the same time
    - Go to appropriate crafting table and drag toolkit to tool in window (I'm guessing this should work)
