Does anyone else think that being a full Fire Mage Specialist, but running around with a Water Elemental for the healing to be a little... anachronistic too?

Does anyone else feel that maybe elementals of each school should also be healers and then... maybe add a harder hitting Golem type to each magic school? (Except Death and Chaos... obviously.)

I feel like the water elemental is fine as being the only one healing, that gives it its niche, and makes him usefull, what I think should happen is simply to give each elemental a specialty like that, so that you can use an elemental for your needs. A Fire elemental should be doing DoT's and hasting its summoner IMO, not heal.

But yes, give elementals more use, give golems aggro abilities and CC (root for earth, slow for Ice)

I like those ideas, but... how often do you see people using elementals other than the Water Elemental?

I do note that things are changing for me with moving up to Chainmail Armor, after finally getting enough levels in certain skills to offset fizzle chance penalties, but My newly acquired Fire Elemental and my long ago beefed up Phoenix just feel less useful than the Water Elemental.

Does the Ice Elemental hit harder than the Water Elemental?

Can anybody count how often and how long things like this are asked for?

Unfortunately there is no authentic Roles like Firemage, Watermage, Necromancer...

I second this. I've gone wind mage which felt appropriate for an archer; I like my air elemental. He is often accompanying me if the god level chicken known as Hot Wing McGee isn't.

On my main character, I use the Phoenix (Sun elemental) to assist me when mining. Many times, it serves as my "canary in a coal mine", alerting me when an enemy has spawned and is sneaking up behind me. It also tanks for me. I also use my Water elemental when I'm grinding for xp in a tougher location, and don't want to use Food to keep my Health and Combat Health up that way.

I have another character who's a Death/Air mage, and uses the Air elemental to do decent damage and tank a little (as a lower-level mage, he needs all the help he can get!).

I like the variety of elementals we can get, and how different ones can come in handy in different situations. (I wish the Death ones - skeleton and Lich - didn't time out so quickly.)

Water elemental is an obvious favorite for its heals, but many people use the wisp for its debuffs, the fire cluck for its tanking abilities, and the Daemon because it has both rank and melee. The reason the water elemental is the winner here though is not entirely because of its healing, it is because it is the only one that has a clear role, which helps everyone, but the wisp is actually very nice too. Add special things to the other ones, and you might see others being used, for situational cases

I think some people use wisps since they're super cheap and cast debuffs.

Debuffs for pets I think are actually a pretty good idea, because it makes is possible for them to be useful to strong players without being OP for lower level players. Could always just add something like minor resist debuff to their damage spells.

As a Mage I use water the most just cause I need heals and don't want to waste any of my slots on pots. I wish we could potions separate from the bar and use them out of a bag or have an interface just for them. having to pick and choose what we put on the bar is very limited for utilities. I love the idea that pets should do more to they are more useful. extra dmg is nice but can't beat heals for a squishy. Water has saved my but a lot.

Another thread is requesting for summoned pets to get their upgrade. Chris spears talked about ideas in a tech talk video one time but I agree this is one system of many that needs to get on the schedule to get upgrades and updated.

I mostly use my water elemental to keep me company and sometimes to try to give a little extra healing help.

I had named her Self Absorbed a long time ago when her healing anount and times she healed was worse. That got a bit of an upgrade but still pets could be better and also more interesting.

Yeah Chris said when he gets back he would be looking at pets/summons. Maybe my Wisp Supermodel will finally do something. :D

I think it is equal to Earth Elemental.
After trying every Elemental, I think the hardest beating one is the Lich Fighter.
Death Elemental is currently the only one you can make stronger by training (Undead Mastery).

I decided for an Ice Elemental before I knew, how strong Elementals are generally.
And after lvl it up to 85 I don't want to change. And as a few said above:
Chris told there will be a change for Elementals. Even if it will come with Episode 2, it will :)

There is a good guide about Elementals from @Perashim here!
A state about them from him can be found here.
And he also made good suggestions for Elementals here.

LOL, you should actually look at the wisp's debuffs. They're pretty much worthless.

My character is a specialized Fire character.

I would like something akin to what they did in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic where "Pets" can be assigned roles, long after the game started out and each one had a set role, but nobody used any of them except the healers for the most part.
