I read that stacking skills does more damage, but I never understood what stacking means. Is it having 6/6 of a skill and then dragging that skill once to one of the deck's slots, and locking it? Or is it putting one skill behind another without locking it? Also, what is the difference if I lock a skill but only have 1/6 on the deck, instead of 6/6 for a skill (other than the extra focus cost for locking it)?

Stacking is used in many different ways, depending on who you talk to. Basically it is about combining more than 1 glyph to attack with.

So for a dynamic skill you would combine multiple skills into one slot, while you are in combat. For example you go into combat mode. As the different skills are dealt, appear in slots, skill 1 appears in slot 1 and in slot 2. You would then combine the two skills by moving the skill in slot 1 onto the skill in slot 2, or the other way around. To move the one skill onto the other they need to be the same skill, for stacking purposes and not talking about combos. This makes the combined skill a 2 stack of the skill and results in a slightly stronger skill. You can stack up to the maximum number of the same skills as you have cards being dealt.

With locked skills, stacking is usually called charging. It works differently than dynamic skills. For locked skills, you press and hold the glyph. So for a skill in slot 1, using the default key values, you would press and hold down the 1 key. This charges the skill up to the maximum skill level for that skill. If you are at level 4' you can get 4 charges of that skill. The number of current charges appears as a green bar as it changes up, ticking 1 for every charges. It also appears on the glyph in the lower right hand corner.

Stacking anc charging doesn't have anything to do with building the deck, but with the way it is used.

When a skill is not locked: during combat drag a glyph onto a duplicate of that glyph when it pops up and it will combine the two into a single glyph

When a skill is locked: assuming you dont have a copy of that same skill in your deck, hold down the hoybar key for that skill during combat and it will charge up, also known as “stacking”

In both cases there will be a small number in the corner of the glyph indicating how much it is stacked

Also important to note that if you are locking a glyph DO NOT put any of those glyphs in your deck (the right side). They must remain on the left side of the deck builder to power the charge. This makes sense. Otherwise it would be possible to access more glyphs of that type than you own - you have four whirling blades, you charge to 4, then one gets dealt into an open slot, making 5 glyphs - oops.

I both lock and unlock some glyphs. Say you want to have one available to do the (probably not worth it but still fun to do) combos, but also want to be able to charge it up several levels, you could lock one and put 2 in the random side. This would give you a possible 3 stack of charged, and 2 showing up randomly to use in combos.

Here is a video that shows how stacking and/or locking is different.
The part about this starts about 18:40 but you can watch it all if you want to see it in action.
