So my box of goodies came going on three weeks ago and sits on my desk unopened. I feel weak to the point that I rounded up my Stanley knife to slit the sucker open. Haven't done it yet, but know I need to find strength to resist the grand opening. If I do open it, would that make me a weak human unable to resist temptation, or would it make me a strong decisive person (devil make care), or would it make me a contemplative logical person not concerned with such trivial stuff? Perhaps knowing your situation will still my heart.

Yup. People that keep everything unopened for some mythical time it'll be worth a couple hundred bucks on ebay - I feed those people to my Patriarch Bear.

I recommend opening the box. I got two shipments, one Ancestor Benefactor and one Founder Edelmann. I had to open the boxes to tell which was which. There was a coin in the Ancestor Benefactor box but not in the Edelmann Founder box. According to sotawiki.net it should have been in the Founder box.. There was no physical copy of Blade of the Avatar in the Founder box, but maybe they decided not to include that.

The map is high quality, the ankh is made of the most lightweight metal known to man, lighter than aluminum, but still cool design by Loubet, the coin is good, the stickers look good to me, anyone who is nitpicking them are really nitpicking for other reasons, it could've been worse, they could've been auto-pen-autographed, which is what most US presidents do since Kennedy, at least they're hand signed and blend in pretty good. Looking forward to the book, and Loubet's art is really good and does deserve to be presented better so I don't mind waiting for the new print version of the book.

Don't see a point in not opening it tbh.

I plan to frame the map at some point.

I opened my main box (Royal Founder Knight), but I've kept my secondary (Founder Ancestor) unopened as it only has a subset of the items. Normally, I don't see a point to keeping sealed boxes around but... yeah, its a duplicate. /shrug

I have a video game room and I collect sealed things, so nope, I'm rather upset that I have to ruin the box in order to get the goodies inside. The SotA box is sitting next to a sealed UO and sealed Tabula Rasa box. Ugh, I don't wanna have to buy someone else's collectors edition to be able to display the map and deed =/

I have actually seen the finest physical map that exists. A guildy works at a print shop in canada, He had a big 3d colored overworld map made. "Like 200 in mats" =) Just thought I'd toss that in there. lol

I didn't buy boxes as an investment, and would never sell one. So, there is no value in keeping the box sealed.

The boxes, my coins, shirts, heraldry plaques, and winged monkeys will all get pitched in a dumpster in 15 or 20 years anyway. May as well enjoy them now.

I had to know if I per-chance got one of the maps that got double signed...

    ...I didn't. I'm OK with that. :)

Like @Sir Frank said, I don't consider them an investment.

(Still not going to open my Charter Edition of UO I've still got in shrink wrap, though)

if you have a slow connection, it's easier to get the digital stuff off the dvd than wait for a huge download
