Yeah i know this....hence why i dont squander my special baits. But i have better luck with minnows and worms. I still need the stats on earthworms and blood leeches.

Red Worms give no bonus of any sort. Given that, you would probably want to exclusively use Minnows, which give a small bonus in any water type. I've not seen the Earth Worms yet, would be nice if someone could provide info on these. Minnows are, however, 2gp and Red Worms are 1gp.

I kinda wish they would break the fish down into watertype categories instead of common, uncommon and rare. And i find it odd to catch what i assume as a fresh water fish in salt water. But i have complained about this enough.

I´m not sure if Red Worms or Minnows are better at catching Bait (Sardine, Herring, Squid, Leeches..)

Well, as I said, Red Worms give no bonus, while Minnows give a small bonus. Which would you choose to fish with? This isn't my guess or opinion, this is what the Tool-Tip says when you do a mouse-over on your bait. I've tried both Red Worms(which I started out with), and Minnows, and the latter had better results with regards to catching fish and bait.

Minnows, per ToolTip give a bonus to catching "Fish" - I don´t want to nitpick but Squid & Leeches aren´t Fish in my understanding ..

Well lets see...there are only a few Attributes that the Bonus can modify. Here they are: Fishing Success Chance, Fishing Critical, Fishing Reagent Recovery, Fishing Survey Distance, Fishing Level, Fishing Success Chance(which doesn't give the bonus for Fishing Level as no change is shown in Stat Logs) , and Fishing Range. There are no attributes related to catching bait. So, there is only two places where the bonus would make sense, and they are Fishing Success Chance or Fishing Critical.

Huh. Doesn't the tooltip for one of the leech types state that it gets a bonus for catching another leech type? (I want to say pale leeches give a bonus to catching blood leeches.) I was watching the live stream last night, and they claimed that some baits would give bonuses to other things in other water types. So bait A gives a bonus to catching fish in salt water, but might give a bonus to catching bait in fetid water. I don't recall if this was in the game now, or a planned feature, though.

Is someone compiling a list of rare fish and where they were caught? I'll log in now and check my stash then list them here...

So, the biggest is a Blue Fin Tuna, Etceter Docks then a King Salmon, Elysian Plains, the others have already been mentioned in this thread. As for bait, I swap between minnows and worms, so no idea....

I'm saving all my rare baits for when I understand how all this works, currently I am spending a lot of time in Mysterious Swamp, fishing for leeches etc

Yes there are bonus' with leeches for catching leeches, but that isn't what we were talking about. We were talking about the difference between Red Worms and Minnows. Some baits are also better in certain water types.

this was on the live-stream fishing special - Blood Leech has a high chance to catch sharks (because of the blood) - so there must be other variables we do not know.

Yeah...any special features of bait are listed in the bait description. In the Stats Log, these things aren't listed.

I am trying to get a sturgeon before I try for a shark. Where can I catch a sturgeon?
