Some npc building items are not marked as private property.

    I noticed a lot of NPC building items, particularly in remote towns are not marked as private property.

    Is this intentional or not?

    You can go around stealing the weapons used as wall decorations, scrap them, then sell the scrap (or use it for crafting) for instance. You can also go take the randomly generated stuff in all the containers in those houses, which can be sold directly or used for scrap.

    Bandit houses and abandoned houses in adventuring areas should obviously not be considered private property, and the same goes with other abandoned houses, as well as crates and chests on abandoned broken carts. (Adventuring areas need more of the later.)

    Details: NPC property is normally marked as private property so it is a virtue penalty of stealing to take them.  Not all areas are marked as such.
    Steps to Reproduce: Go to certain areas in some towns  and mouseover items.  They are not listed as private property and thus can be taken without being considered stealing. See attached location for example.  See Attached pastebin post for a longer list of locations.

    @AoiBlue, please use the /bug command in game to generate a report with location information when you see these items and post it here so the devs know specifically the locations they need to change items at.

    OK, I was thinking of making an in-game index book of them as well, noting which ones I get a reply back as being intentional. (Obviously bandit villages are meant not to be marked as private property.)

    The biggest place I noticed is Celestia has only the bank marked as private property. This means all the decor is able to be "acquisitioned" by "creative players" right in front of the NPCs.

    Most notable is some 30 scrap worth of weapons in the walls of the weapon smith and training buildings, and a bunch of jars in the alchemist's building by the scale. (Very useful items.)

    I noticed in the latest minor patch, a couple of the locations already got fixed. I haven't checked celestia since the latest minor patch. I'm not sure what changed in that patch. It's still listed as R61, but there were a few gigabytes of download from steam, so I suspect minor game-data patches.

    I should add the top list there.

    However, the full output is very long, and I'm still working on adding to it. I added another location today, for instance.

    Pastebin lets me update it easily.

    As a note, I gave one example in the post, per your point of providing enough information to easily open an initial bug-rep. I suspect this will be a long-term maintenance task, though to be added to their regular level QA checks.

    First off make sure it is a bug, just picking things up has never been a bug.

    It affects your Karma

    Most likely you are reporting things that are non issues,

    need to do a true bug report and get an answer before you keep taking up time.

    You can steal them either way. It's a matter of if you can do so in broad daylight and if they affect your virtue rating.

    When you mouseover private property the cursor turns red. When it is not, it's green. I'm not stupid I know the difference.

    It's clearly a bug, especially where it affects every NPC building in a zone, like Brittany Estates.

    Relax, nobody said you were stupid. We are just trying to help you create a VALID bug report so that your report will be correctly added to the devs their Jira system.
    Would be a shame if your bug report gets ignored because of invalid reporting..

    I'm not complaining about you. You considered my report to be valid, and gave constructive feedback.

    Anyhow, if they didn't know if what I was saying was actually true, they could have just visited one of the locations I posted. This would have shown them that it was, in fact, not marked as private property.
