[By Design] Cannot salvage tools

It should be possible to salvage items like the pickaxe, mortar and pestle, etc, for scraps. Currently the game won't even allow you to put them in the crafting table.

 

This is by design.

 

This is a poor design. For example, I currently have 13 pickaxes stored (which cannot stack, of course....) that have 0 value. The only thing I can do with them is destroy them. It would make a lot more sense if they could be scrapped.

 

You can sell the axes on a vendor to other players or use them on your own. You can also engrave them. These axes (engraved or not) are unlootable.

 

Not sure why anyone would be so foolish as to buy a pickaxe you can pick up off the ground from numerous locations across the game. But it seem logical that one would be able to break them down for scraps.

 

I heard a rumour that people complaining/asking to get deco dropped that can be found in numerous places throughout the game...

Rusty weapons that can be pick up(ed?) are already salvageable. Gives one scrap per weapon...

 

Yes, I know. But not pickaxes, mortar and pestle, etc. It seems logical that they could also be scrapped.

 

Just to note, I ended up with two Hoe's that can neither be destroyed nor sold. How do I get rid of this junk? @Bzus

 

this has come up a lot: there was a period of time when they made starter tools indestructible so people wouldn't get rid of them before finding out they needed them. the hoe was changed later than the others. you can put them on a public vendor in some out-of-the-way town and it'll be destroyed after a week.
