ive been thinking about this a lot lately, I’m less and less certin this will end well for portal and us as players. Originally I was like hell yea I can take all my earned xp and fast track multiple characters to elite status but thinking long term I have a feeling this is catering to much to the I don’t want to work for it philosophy. On the other hand I have what 2 years into this character I’m pretty sure I won’t put two years into another (x by as many new builds /spec you might want to play). I think this game as already compromised with the easy crowd too much with making things easier Dbl xp, upper tears, log in get free xp, talk to the oracle and get gold etc.

I’d say I’m 51% for this and 49% opposed. I’m wondering if what uo did with a bind on account soul stone would be a better option.

These are my opinions what are yours?

EDIT: ( blame my misunderstanding on the proposed system on lack of official details l) :)

Somebody had to work for those pool xp points, and in this scenario it's the alt that shares bank and reputation by default.
The work has already been done just getting the xp's in the pool, right ?
It's not like you can give or sell them to anyone else, so I see no harm in it from my perspective.

Save that the volume of experience that a high level character can generate exceeds what a low level character can by a couple orders of magnitude, which is @Brass Knuckles' point...
The high level character has to do far less work to advance the low level character very quickly.

I can see both sides of the argument, and believe as Brass Knuckles does, that the game may have implemented to many "Easy Button" features already... However my list would differ somewhat from his... In this particular instance, I believe it make sense to combine the pooled experience.

While there is very little tangible value in an Alternate character, people will want them for various reasons of their own... and I see little value in forcing them through more work for less gain after they have done it once.

Let me attack this from another angle and see what you think about this..

With two new toons I could min max taming for example and dump a billion xp into tame creature and collar recovery and on another toon I could dump those billion xp into summon creature and combat training (min maxer’s dream come true) could this be a problem?

I can easily tame the best beasts with one and the other I’d be a supper powerful pet controller.

What's to prevent you from doing all of this on the Main character?
The experience cost would be the same.

Well with non shared (current system) I’d have to split that billion between both taming and power. With two toons I could do a million each under the shared idea.

My understanding of the shared system each toon would have the same do base.

    To what advantage?

Spend it all on the Main and the Main would be just as skilled as the Alt(s), but have the advantage of being a single character.

You can just take that experience and put it into new skills on your current avatar. Way cheaper than building a new character.

You made me chuckle, Brass, so thx for that.... :p

I'd be more prone to answer as to whether or not it could be a problem, if you'd mind giving me a better example of "realistic" pool numbers.
    I mean, a BILLION.
At a mill per hr, that would take how long ?
Plus, like Rufus said above - you could do the same with your main char and get the adv level benefit to boot ... ;)

The system as explained would be char 1 has a billion xp in my example and char 2 would have a billion and char 3 would have a billion.

Once you use experience from the pool, it's gone. You won't get to use it on another avatar.

And, once again.... SOMEBODY has already paid the price for getting the xp's into the pool, so what difference would it make if they put some of them into an alt on the same account ?

I'm assuming that you mean they all share the same 1 billion xp pool, is that what you're saying ?

My under standing was they would all have the same amount of expierence but if that works like gold then I’d see no issue with it.

I’d like to see more details, but if as you say It’s a win win I think.

He's thinking that each avatar has their own private 1B exp.
