Graphical Artifacts and Lost Ground Textures

    Hello friends,

    Since the new release I've been experiencing a lot of problems with effects - squares instead of effects like smoke or sparks, as well as some ground textures turning black.

    I don't believe I'm alone in this, and I was hoping someone who is a bit saavier about graphics issues and experiencing the same issues could explain it better than me.

    Not sure what you're asking for? Do you want a technical explanation of why it is happening? Or just wanting to know if it is fixed in the last couple of patches?

    BTW from what LIst said in the livestream today, they have to fix each scene's textures by hand. So if you see them you need to bug them so they can be fixed.

    Didn't ask anything. Just as I said in the OP, since the new release, graphical effects are producing a lot of artifacts such as squares instead of sparks and smoke.

    And I invited anyone else having the same issue to chime in.

    He is just trying to do a bug report FYI. Not sure why be so harsh anyhow.

    To clarify....the sparks and black ground textures are known bugs from the last update. If you keep seeing it after next Monday's patch...do a bug report so they know what they missed :)

    In which sub-category can I find graphical issues? I looked about before posting this but couldn't find it.

    world building scenes, environment, etc

    You won't see all of the bugs listed, but the ones you mentioned were discussed in 2 livestreams so they are known by devs :)

    It might be helpful to do a /bug on this. It will record the position.

    If this is about the black ground materials. Yes, it is a known bug and they are working on a fix. I wish they would halo test for that bug on every release, since it's such a pesky recurring bug.

    I noticed two possible sources of the black textures. First, some levels have zero base ambient lighting. This can sometimes cause problems if the light generator accidentally miscalculates the diffused light as zero in areas as well, hence creating black splotches where not enough light exposes things. The second possibility is there was a spew of shader errors in the logs in the OpenGL (4.5 core) rendering mode: "Pass 'Meta' has no vertex shader."

    I think a long term improvement may be, if Unity3D supports it, to move from the older
