Sorry to hear about this crash issue. Please repost if you are able to determine a repeatable pattern.

Just had the same, too many heap sessions. Was just killing stuff in Sequanna Colossus.
Didn't happen to me on zone change, happened mid-combat (I was looting corpses as well)
I had been online for a while doing random encounters to try and trigger the new merhcnats so quite a few zone screens prior to this.
Game shut down, showed unity window, and heap sessions error.

I may be wrong but my wife and I have the exact same computer except for the video cards. Hers is NVIDIA and mine is Radeon.
Since the patch she has been getting heap section errors and I have not gotten any. Prior to this patch I was getting the error once a day or so.

Looking at the specs given in the posts above it appears they all have NVIDIA cards as well.

I also got this error last night but I was moving items from chest to chest not zoning in. I also have an Nvidia card.

I guess it could have something to do with the texture streaming that they turned on, that would be the only thing I could think of that might affect the heap stack and have to do with graphics cards. There might be a lot of memory allocati9ns happening when Unity is deciding on what textures should be streamed, moving them around, etc. But that is supposition since I have no idea what unity is doing to facilitate texture streaming.

Got this a couple of times. 1 on zone change and one a short while ago while refining copper into ingots mid-refine. This may be related to play time.

I got this at least two times today. One is adventuring Owl's Sewer. The other one is while I am smelting some gold ingots. This problem occur very often in this release.

    1. Player made Dungeon (standing still)
    2. The Rise (fighting)

NVidia card users (seems to be everyone having this issue):

Open the NVidia Control Panel, select "Manage 3D Settings" on the left, and Turn OFF the "Shader Cache" option in the global settings (and for any profile you may have for SOTA under "Program Settings" tab).

Shader Cache can cause issues with various Virus scanners (constantly trying to scan a file that is constantly changing), as well as with some games (Shader Cache is updated on the fly, creating bottleneck for the game). WORST case scenario, you're having BOTH problems at the same time (like I was when I discovered this problem in another game)!

Unless you have a real slug of a CPU, you do NOT need Shader Cache, not to mention the fact that anyone with that slow of a CPU would have a hard time with SOTA in the first place.

I am NOT sure that this is the actual problem people are experiencing with SOTA, but it's worth a shot if this solves the problem.

I just got the same error while exploring Ardoris. "Fatal Error in GC" "Too many heap sections"
Trying the Shader Cache fix, hope it works...

Update: Just crashed again with the same error with that Shader Cache option off, so fix did not work.
