    Hello!

The first build for R66 QA has been published! It is build 831. There is a minor Unity engine version update compared to the current live builds. There have been some global changes to help improve perfomance/memory usage a bit, and some performance improvements and changes that are still in progress for dungeon navmesh generation. As we have other more focused areas for testing requests, we will let you know.

Please report all bugs in our R66 QA bug forum here:
    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?categories/release-66-qa-bug-forum.2120/

You can also provide general non-bug feedback here:

When we publish new QA versions, I will post in this thread so that you know there are new things to test!

Those of you new to testing on the QA Server please note the following:
    • Do not post screenshots or video outside of the QA forums (or QA on Discord) of anything from the QA server.
    • The same Rules of Conduct apply on the QA server as they do on Live.
    • The QA server is an early snapshot of the upcoming release, which means the build on that server is going to be broken and incomplete. That is why we need your help!
    • We usually copy over data (your character for example) from the Live server to the QA server, which means when you login you will see your Live character. Any changes or progress made on the QA server will NOT affect your Live server character.
    • To report bugs for QA, please use the /devbug chat command, which will link you to the appropriate QA bug forum. While the Bug button and /Bug chat command still work, they will direct you to the Live bug forums for the previous Live release.
    • (This will be done closer to R66 release) The draft of the instructions (to be posted in the R66 QA Feedback forum by Starr) you will see early on may include items that won’t actually make the release or conversely it won’t included items that will make the release. In other words the early draft of the instructions will be an early draft.

Here are instructions on how to download and install QA builds:

You can play by downloading a new SotA Launcher(QA) installer to download a separate QA copy of the game. It exists independently from the regular live version of the game and installs to a separate folder. Alternatively, after the links, there are instructions to play using Steam instead.

    Windows: https://d2sx9mrt4zumaq.cloudfront.net/Installers/SotAInstaller(QA)-1.2.0.exe

    Mac: https://d2sx9mrt4zumaq.cloudfront.net/Installers/Shroud of the Avatar - Installer(QA) 1.1.0.pkg

    Linux Package: https://d2sx9mrt4zumaq.cloudfront.net/Installers/shroud-of-the-avatar-launcher-qa_1.1.0_amd64.deb

    Linux tar.gz: https://d2sx9mrt4zumaq.cloudfront.net/Installers/shroud-of-the-avatar-launcher-qa_1.1.0.tar.gz

If you want to play through Steam:

WARNING: Playing both the normal and QA versions through Steam could use up to 7 GB+ of data download via steam each time you move back and forth between versions.

To install the QA client via Steam, follow these instructions:
    • Right click on the game in your game library
    • Go to Properties
    • Click on the tab at the top that says BETAS
    • Enter the beta access code "SotAQATesting" and hit Check Code.
    • Select "qaclient" from the dropdown menu
    • Steam will switch the install to the new branch
    • To return to playing the normal client, follow these instructions:
      • Go back to the properties beta tab and select "none - opt out of all beta programs" and it will switch you back to the normal install.

Please test dungeons in adventure mode. It is known that pets sometimes get stuck moving between pieces but otherwise make sure that they follow you around inside of each piece, that you can blink/aoe/etc, and monsters move about. Thanks!

    From the Release 66 Post:
While this isn't accurate anyway (should give a penalty to the same school as the resistance), Life Resistance makes no sense unless you are undead.

Could this be changed to provide a bonus to Chaos Resistance (smaller than others, obviously) with a penalty to Life Attunement? There is no Chaos Resistance option.

Chris mentioned in his stream where he was adding warding, that life resistance was going to have few, if any, real use. It was an expected consequence of the design. Almost everyone will have life skills and high attunement, especially since high attunement means greater health recovery when you heal yourself or someone heals you. That high attunement translates into high resistance.

But if you aren’t using any magic whatsoever, including life, i don’t see the problem. You aren’t going to care about the extra healing you get from life when you heal yourself or get heals from others.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Even if you choose not to pursue Life Magic on your own, you'd generally want healing applied to you to not suffer. I was just trying to think of something that would actually have a benefit to more than a select few individuals.

As of yesterday on LIVE summons and pets were having a hard time navigating in some of the rooms. And the main thing i see is they get stuck if you do not have the transition links between rooms and hallways. Had my polar bear out with me and he got stuck in the hall due to no transition piece there so his paws got caught on the empty gap between the hall and the room

The wadring and taming skills are in the skill trees but you can't train them. It looks like they aren't hooked up yet with the trainers.

No please, death mages with lich ring need life res a lot vs banish undead. About chaos res i think Chris get rid of this on purpouse, chaos has just 1 dmg skill, rest is buff, debuff and cc, why you would need chaos res? I am not aware of mobs damaging players with chaos except the demon using sometimes a chaosbolt.

Resist can be more than just damage reduction, it should improve the chance to not get hit by effects. Chaos is a pain currently.

But again, I don't care about the small percentage of players who rely on one ring for their build, or a single skill that gives a buff that is useless for most other players. Leave Life Warding as-is, and add a Chaos warding to the actual Chaos tree then, so we can actually build resistance.

I am not sure if it works vs effects like confusion, that should be cc resist and not chaos res.

Resistance also lowers the time that debuffs are active. Chaos magic doesn't have any skills that provide resistance simply because it's intended that chaos magic is the hardest to resist.
