Patch 988 made a change to prohibit taming over a whistle with a pet on it. In the live stream yesterday Atos said they would fix the problem over the weekend bu allowing it again but making whistles lockable if you need to protect a high level pet

    Build Number 991 Patch Notes:
    • Locking a taming caller to inventory will prevent taming over a current pet, otherwise, you can do so again.
So I think this means we can over-write the neckless.
But I'm confused. caller? Collar? ... not neckless?
    Thanks.

Taming collars are the resource you "burn" while attempting to tame a pet. When you succeed in taming a pet, the pet is associated with a specific taming whistle (necklace). For a tamed pet to be active, the pet's whistle must be in the necklace slot in your character window. The taming whistle now has a lock to inventory option so you can protect high level pets from being over written by accident.

Sounds like a mistake in the patch notes -- "taming caller" --> "taming necklace".

With this patch - the game lets you attempt to tame with a filled necklace - however the tame always fails (you hit nothing! (Tame Creature)

I can't overwrite my taming necklace that isn't locked either - so this is a confirmed bug.

    @Jaath Windsong also noticed this.

Details: Taming Whistle / Necklace that already has a tamed pet assigned to it NEVER allows a new pet to be tamed over it.
Steps to Reproduce: Equip a Taming Whistle / Necklace with a tamed pet already assigned to it and try to tame a new pet over it and no matter what % chance you have the taming attempt always fails. I wasted 2 hours trying to tame an Obsidian Wolf with a 21% chance before realizing the failures were most likely a bug, so I tried to tame an Elder Timber Wolf instead and even with a 51% chance of success I couldn't tame the Elder Timber Wolf over my Taming Whistle / Necklace even though I attempted the taming of it over 10 times.

    Still a bug!
Attempt to tame on a dirty whistle over 10 times and always get "You failed to tame the creature".
Kite till I have a chance to equip clean whistle and within 3 tries I capture the critter to the whistle.
Tried this a few times on different dirty whistles with same results.
    Broken... I say it's Broken!....

Confirmed, still a bug as of 14 June (build 993). I cannot overwrite an occupied taming necklace.

Yep, exact same issue here, and not getting any gains either in this scenario, so taming training is pretty much broken for me now too.

To re-use the whistle, let the pet die and wait for the resurrection timer to expire. It will clear the whistle. Not ideal but better than wasting whistles.

I use lower level bears to tank destroyers while I tame them, this needs to be fixed!

Can we get an update on this at least? Would feel better to know it's on someone's radar. Really would like to level taming more, but at the moment not really very feasible, especially if I accidentally tame something too high to summon. Just afraid as far as the devs are concerned, this bug is fixed, when it's clearly not.

If you can't fix this problem, please get rid of the whole locking idea and go back to taming whistles that work the way they're supposed to. This was a bad idea from the beginning and if there's no way to correct the problem with over-taming unlocked whistles just revert to the original code until you can figure out why this doesn't work.

Totally agree. The way it is now, taming is broken. I'd rather have the old system back than this, because at least I was able to tame back then.

    > I agree too. Now for building a tamer, we need many many numbers of neckless. If we have a few neckless,
    > we must recycle them by killing the pets in the neckless. OK. neckless are able to recycle. but does anyone
    > say it is an act of appropriation as avatars?
I must rewrite the above posting.
I believe this issue will be fixed in R67.
I've logged in to the QA server PL 843 a few minutes ago.
    the issue has been solved.
But I think we still have a problem.
So I've posted a report to the R67 feedback forum.
    Thanks.
