@redfish @Fenrus MacRath , I can see your point for sure. But if it was simply a click to add a flag on that gear to add it to patterns I'm ok with that. Myself i already use rusted weapons in my dungeon laying next to corpses or skeletons. My own plan to make top gear for my dungeon I want as many options as possible to pattern things to make them different. That dead guy with a dagger that every one runs by with out a 2nd though could one day be a rusty dagger of destruction that was in his buried crypt for hundreds of years. If only people stopped and looked. Or like all the other amazing gear that I dump into the loot tables perhaps one day a +21 rusty sword shows up. The idea is that is expands what we have for options as players to decorate, and develop our own scenes. the more tools and options the better. Rusted weapons seem fitting for many ideas and scenes.

myself I dress specific ways when I am in my town which fits the lore and my quests that are coming and dungeons. its because of these patterns. I am not saying that you or others will ever want rusty, but there are some like myself that will use this. Id rather have them convert all to the new systems so we can use it all. then to complain and have them stop doing these freebies :)

There we go the real reason for the thread hehe. I think the issue is more then the % chance rate that needs to be adjusted, or as one put it above lets move pattern salvage to a new method to get.

I would like for them to make patterns for the outfits worn by Bandits... so instead of a Bandit dropping a pattern for a rusty or ragged or dirty armor... he would drop a pattern for his Bandit Armor, Bandit Hood, Bandit Leggings, Bandit Boots or Bandit Gloves... *Grins Sheepishly* YES, Of course I have a motive for this. I didn't think it mattered what that was. It doesn't change the point that we are beset by garbage gear .

But this would still cause issue as now you would probably get less scrap loot as you are adding more options to the loot tables for the mobs. each mob has its tables for loot and number of options. So your money is still being reduced because of chance pattern. well it may not be as many as you currently get the % chance I still think is the easier to correct with little time spent then the other.

Agreed, but THAT isn't going to change. I know in my heart of heart, I am just howling at the moon. If the patterns were MARKETABLE at least, perhaps it wouldn't be such a kick in the tuckus.

Anyway IMO, do a Salvage for Pattern recipe.

This would a. let players minimize pile-up of unwanted patterns when salvaging for scraps , b. move to a more RP oriented approach to getting patterns.

Make stuff with Eternal Patterns always drop or require Salvage for Pattern.

I specifically have completely avoided GM salvaging just to avoid getting patterns.

Your poll needs a 3rd option: Fix salvaging to accommodate the people who want patterns and the vast majority who never want them (scrap is WAY more valuable than a completely useless pattern).

Unfortunately, I desire the imbued bow strings of speed, so high level salvaging is a must.

Yo, let us just get scrap AND the pattern.

It’s really a simple fix imo.

Edit: Scrap and or any other material we salvage.

Is this thread based on QA notes or Chris’ twitch.tv streaming?

There was a thread in the QA feedback forum is the reason I ask.

Ideally, *every* item would have a potential pattern. And salvaging would give you both scrap parts and patterns.

I am always happy, that the forum comes to life with those kind of rusty stuff.
These Dev's know exactly how to attract attention *laughing*

Okay, maybe I am not really happy, just kidding.

I really wish, the forum would come more to life about story related stuff ...
May be that's not so easy to drop in like rusty patterns ;)

And at the end I have to confess:
    rusty patterns win!
They are not bugged, they are everywhere, you have no effort to receive them and nobody will ever know their story ...

Because of this I am for (rusty) story patterns :)

[Don't take this too serious ;)]

I would love most if not all of the tweaks suggested by this learned community. The truth is, none of them will ever be implemented, like 95% of the great ideas cultivated here. This is why I'm not asking for them. I just don't want the devs to think they are knocking it out of the park for us by adding more rusty hobo crap to the game. At last count, there is 18-3 against rusty crap on the poll. So SOME people want it. I think they should definitely have it, just don't force us all to get it and ridiculous quantities of it at that. Put the patterns in a chest somewhere that can be looted, like the old dragonbone throne. Just stop making the 85.7% of us who don't want it suffer, so the 14.3% can play out their tetanus storyline.
