Anyone know what this is or does? I can't seem to find any info on it here or otherwise. It's in the Video settings right below "Cloth Simulation."

The closest thing I've found is a feature in Unity called Lighting Baking but I'm not sure if it's even related.

Best thing I've heard on stream lately: Tool tips for all those settings are on the way. (How soon, I don't remember, but at least it's on their list.)

It's clearly a special setting that deliberately makes load time so long that you have time to go and bake a batch of scones while you are zoning. My wife is going to love this feature!

Atos has discussed this feature on his twitch stream. If I remember right, it's basically a setting that loads all static meshes in a scene into memory all at once instead of waiting until the last second when it's needed. It will only do this on computers with high memory. During testing it only impacted scene loads by a second or two. Personally, I haven't noticed an increase in scene load times, but I have noticed a significant increase in frame rates in some scenes, Here's the full description from https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/?p=111632
    • Load Time Graphics Batching: This feature was turned on for a handful of maps in R68 and showed great improvements. For several players, this increased overall frame rate by more than 10 fps and all saw some gains. This comes with a small memory trade off so it will be disabled for low memory systems. It also introduces a few seconds of additional load time so players who believe their frame rate is already great can choose to turn it off.

Thanks, @Toular! That's the best explanation I've heard. And it gives me the information to know whether to use it or not.

Only now I want two versions of it: One checkbox for regular scenes, and one for over-decorated towns.

I'll gladly give up a few seconds in scene loading time for even a chance at a small boost to fps.

Thanks for the answers @Toular and @Alley Oop!

I tested the video option on R70 QA and did not notice any improvements from that setting - doing it manually though, does provide the ~4 FPS boost:

You can manually do it also, by typing in game chat:
    /batchit

-- it will freeze the game for several seconds
-- doors will not animate properly, but they still open and you can walk through
    -- some nameplates will break

Thanks, @Echondas. Added to the SotAwiki Commands page.

Are you saying that you think the setting via the check box is not working but enabling it via the console command is?
