A lot of the time both Solar Flare and the Rainbow Conbo are failing to hit the target. It seems that this happens more often when either party is on an obvious elevation compared to the other party although it does seem to happen on flat ground as well.

PS...The Phoenix is still useless. Phoenix level 120, Train summoned pet damage 100, and it hits for 15-19 normal, and maybe an odd 30+ when it critical's. The 3-4 dot it generates is also useless. Death Summons can hit for massive amounts and so can the Earth Elemental, 500+?? i understand the Phoenix keeps range but still it has a 10-15* less base damage.

I'm finding that Solar Flare does not target the current target; it simply fires directly ahead. Between that and the possible "Z" issue, getting it to hit anything is a "challenge".

    Adding to this:

I don’t believe the spicy chicken is also, “exploding” on death too.

Yeah, while I completely believe that a 500 pt earth elemental crit is a thing, as an earth specialist with 256 attunement (and Elemental only at like 105, its the skill I didn't raise for raw attunement purposes) best I've seen is about 300, usually its in the "200-something" range.
Regular hits are consistently 80-120, or a bit higher if I str buff it.
Attunement doesn't seem to make any difference to its damage (if I take off all earth gear it doesn't matter).

The Phoenix by contrast, does as you say 15-19 damage and a dot that ticks for 3-4 damage now. Its sad. And my Phoenix is 120. I know it costs a bit less, and hits from "range" (it still has to be pretty close, though), but I'd expect its base damage to be around 60-80 at the least, and the dot damage to be more significant.

LOL, air elemental does zero damage. I've bugged it several times and the bug reports are just ignored.

Thx for the figures by someone who uses. I had put my estimates/what i heard with ?? as i wasn't 100% sure. However Fizzle a while back had his elemental around 140 and im sure he said it was critting for 500+, thus why i mentioned. Whatever the case the Phoenix as you say is still way behind the field when it comes to damage.

Nope its not.... still missing its kaboom.

I was air heavy once and i think it did a little damage but not a lot back then but yes, useless as well.

They should have redesigned ALL summons when they did one. This waiting around doing odd bits here and there doesn't make for a happy playerbase as it favours one school/area over others and makes people play the fotm.

We really need to employ someone full time just balancing the game, especially with a no cap, class free model. EvE many years ago hired an economist from memory, he used to do some blogs and talk numbers, players loved it and i think players would take more interest in the game if they were serious about combat balancing/economics/crafting etc and did posts and stuff with numbers(players do love them) and their reasonings.

The phoenix is basically a MUCH weaker skeletal mage summon. MUCH Weaker direct damage and DOT but same attack spell. Undead pets will always be the most powerful because of passive skills in the death tree and artifact boosts to undead summons. But it's like comparing a House Cat to a Tiger. I'm glad phoenix finally got some attention but it's still a joke to use it compared to literally any other combat pet/summon out there.
