It really is. I don't know what they are comparing it to and perhaps they have a bad graphics card or the game graphics set lower. I'm happy you are enjoying yourself. There is a lot to see.

It's a bit of a mix. Most stuff is great but some is crap (like caves).

How many millions of dollars are spent in a year on 2d pixel art indie games?

    Agreed.......

    I think that's a bit harsh....

When loot/harvest finally makes more sense in terms of "worth" -
when Chris is finished with all "Major" skill nerfs (hopefully soon) -
and when RNG finally get's "the f**k outta crafting" (where it has no business being)
and replaced with SKILL LEVEL taking it's place.....
    Till then...

I'm givin' game play an 8

and with the right moves - we'll end up with the 10 we're capable of.

The adventuring areas are pretty nice, especially the newer ones.

Some of the older ones look a little stale and could use a fresh spit an polish when EP2 is done.

While I think RNG should be in crafting, I think failure rate should be lower, and failure penalty should be less except for very rare critical failures.

I lost it with the nerf comment & would agree with the crafting bit, that is why I gave it a 6.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Bits of the graphics are pretty good. Characters, animations and some mobs are terrible. Lighting from the general sun is good, a lot of items its a gaudy mess. They're not bad, but not exactly current year either. Compared to ultima 9 though, a lot better looking.

    True story.

    @ Topic
SotA has it's very own beauty. It isn't necessarily the beauty of a AAA RDR2. But I like the style of SotA very much.
That being said: the trees could need a touch up ^^

Still asking myself what you did do to the real @FrostII :p

Interesting stuff. Sometimes I can stand atop a hill at dawn in the open world or a zone and be gobsmacked with the visuals. Other times, usually at night or dusk when there is lots of shadow, trees or vegetation and it can look a mushy brown mess. I reported this several times way back (if it can be amazing in one place why not all places?) and, from memory, the Devs at one point said it was shader or lighting issues.

Some scenes and the engine itself (for lighting and post-processing) are not bad, the problem comes when you don't have any art direction in your game, the lack of art direction is noticeable in some points. We can see that in some models and assets, there is no consistency between them.

Also most of the assets are super old, but they do what they can with their budget and hand power.

For some reason this game runs so poorly on my machine I have to have the graphics set near minimum and it still isn't smooth. I'm not sure why as I can play other recent MMORPGs using much higher graphic settings with much better performance.
