This discussion has been ongoing for years, and an exchange of views is always a good thing. In my opinion those who want PVP should ideally have options as to what kind of PVP they engage in, and those who don't want PVP should have the ability to completely avoid it without penalty.

PVP still far from being meaningful, years have passed and a single change has not been added. Well atleast ransoms are back, a little late considering the past mass leaving of pvpers.
I wonder if sooner or later a little attention will be given to this important aspect of the game, we are saturated with content of all kinds except that relating to PVP.

Agreed, Pvp needs incentives, for the winner, mostly, but for the losers as well. People who are scared to go into pvp will never go with the current state because there is ABSOLUTELY nothing to gain for someone who wants to learn. So many games have an actual risk vs reward system in place for pvp zones : Runescape has super rewarding mobs and bosses in pvp zones, with increase drop rates. ESO has the imperial city which offers special currency to buy nice stuff, has 2 skill trees that are focused around pvp, and actual pvp specific items acquired, once again, from pvp specific currency. HECK Warframe has pvp only augments for your warframe, and they even have a "Gustball" style minigame that acts as a way to acquire some pvp currency!

PVP zones need an incentive, and actual PVP needs something for both the winner and the loser, to bring in people in. At least the newbies would get a little something instead of only sacrificing their ransom, which would keep them coming back and actually increase their skill...

I think the topic is current enough to not require a new thread :)

Different Topic, I almost forgot that the keyword "PVP" for many puts everything inside the same cauldron.
It would be good practice to also read the rest of the title :)

You say so, your premise here is the same as there.

    So let me clarify:
-One is about what meaningful PVP means and how can be implemented in game.
-The other is about how PVP could and can affect population numbers if it wasn't cornered for years.

    :)

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to be trite. My apologies if it came across that way! :)

I feel the exact same way about the current development of the game's quests and storyline. However, I have just given up asking about it. I rarely get a response and the lack of any clear direction in this capacity is disconcerting.

No worries, i just tried to clarify the differences ;)

I believe that with this comparison you have really hit the mark man.
PVP, Quests and Storyline/Lore are almost in the same situation.
