EDIT: This has been solved by community members that happened to know about the in-game command /datafolder. As I installed this game through Steam, I suspect that was why my file path to the sheet music was not working, because Steam is saving the .abc files in a folder the game is not programmed to pull from (see the file path below...)

Can someone please point me in the right direction to get these files to play in game using an instrument? I have the game loaded via Steam, so my folder for adding .abc files appears to be

    D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SotA\Shroud of the Avatar_Data\Data\Songs

But the game is not recognizing it. Any help is appreciated.

Great info. I thought you had to write the ABC file to blank sheet music first. Now I need to find some interesting music for the 5 piece one man band I won on last weeks livestream :)

Also I do open up a blank sheet music to quickly see a list of songs that are in my sheet music folder. Have fun with your music it's amazing. I love playing (syncing) in group as well. I have many group songs.

I guess I'm aware of the commands to play, and I am using the correct commands, however the game is not recognizing that they are in my list. For example: I have, what I'm assuming is, the default "rulebrittania.abc". So, I type /play rulebritannia, and nothing happens.

Ok, but what about .abc files I've downloaded directly into the folder that contains rulebritannia.abc? That was how I did it before. Did that chage? Do I now require having a digital asset in my backpack, i.e. sheet music?

EDIT: I've followed the instructions in the Help menu in game, and it hasn't helped.

Edit 2: I'm assuming the game is expecting a different file path than the one listed above (from the Help Button in-game) as the RuleBritannia.abc is in a completely different file path than the one listed above.

To be clear, I have NO sheet music in game, blank or other wise. I should be able to play RuleBritannia.abc by just typing /play rulebritannia while using an instrument, and I can't.

My point is I should not need a "Blank Sheet Music" in my character's inventory to play a song, unless that has changed. I was able to copy and paste am .abc file directly into my file directory, type /play <name of file>, and my character would start playing. And that is not happening.

    Well, this is infuriating.

The folder I'm brought to when I type /datafolder in game bring me to a folder with a file path that literally does not exist when I try to get there manually...

Edit: And, of course, that works... The in-game Help function should refer to the /datafolder command. I suspect those that install the game via Steam, such as myself, aren't going to go through the investigation I did...

I was thinking the same thing. I wish I could figure out why a file exists on my computer that can't be accessed manually with File Explorer...

I changed it so the hidden files and folders would be visible, and finally the AppData folder within the Users folder became visible.

I suppose I didn't. Though, to be fair, there wasn't much context buried within your post sir, so I'm not sure I would have even understood the importance of that command, had I gotten through the commands that I was already aware of. But thank you.

its always required you to take the song and make a music sheet as long I as ive been playing which is 7 years. maybe I am wrong but thats all I know.

@Elgarion Possible need a new command for steam users to take them to their folder. mind you not sure how this could be done as a steam library can be linked to any folder on any drive and is not static like launcher version of the game.

The APPDATA FOLDER is a hidden System folder in windows.
It don't matter where you install the game the appdata folder will ALWAYS be you data path.

And IF the Sheet Music folder does not exist it needs be created.

AS well .. you have the option from in game to CHANGE your data path at anytime by going in to settings and changing it manually.

So no need for Elgarion or anyone else to start messing with anything.
