It's not runic. Is it another language (Elvish)? Is it a code? Is it filler? Or as Astrobia says, is it "greek lorem ipsum"?

    You decide.

Just in case thats not clear lorum ipsum is dummy text used to test printing equipment, typesets and make props. I highly suspect this is just a prop with dummy text in greek letters. Probably bought off the unity asset store.
You can tell it's not meant to be coherent langauge because the texture for the text is repeated across the second half of the stone. So the first line reads menbasilkiana, and then menbasilkiana again and it does this on every line, with many lines repeating again further down, sometime one after the other. I don't think it's actually meant to be legible. :p

For those who wish to view this for themselves, the location of the stone tablet is on a small hill just after you enter the game.

Found it at Area: OwlsHead Loc: (138.1, 70.2, -242.4)

I don't know if you realize this, but it is right at the impenetrable boundary.

And it does look pretty random.

Edit: Although it is difficult to make much of it out, just from looking at it in game, it is definitely Greek.

FYI the "Lorem Ipsum" text, as yes being used in printing (and web design) as filler text to give clients an idea of what it can look like, is actually Latin. Learn about it here: http://www.lipsum.com/ Being in printing & publishing for over 20 years, you get to learn a lot about this sort of thing. :D

And too busy to clicky the link?
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Ha! I win the arguement about it not being "Greek" but probably another language. :)

    Lorem ipsum is Latin.
The text on that stone is definitely Greek. Go take a gander at the Greek alphabet. :)

    More Pics.

If I recall correctly, Ancient Greek was in all caps, did not use punctuation or spaces, and used letters to represent numeric values.

It looks like gibberish, and the texture actually repeats itself - one copy on the left and a repeat on the right.

First three lines appear to be:

    MENBASIATIANA MENBASIATIANA
    ?IBASILISSANDT ?IBASILISSANDT
    OLONXRUSOPT OLONXRUSOPT

(space indicates where it repeats, and it is not a fixed width font)

ΜΗΝ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΑ in Google Translate comes out to DO NOT REIGN

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΑ, however, also translates to kingdom or a royal palace.

Probably still just some dummy text, but there is meaning in there, I'm sure.

Yes, it would've been great if it were in runic and had a hidden message. I don't want puzzles to be so hard that half the people that see it think it's a mistake. :)

I want hard puzzles. I do like the idea that you can't tell if it's gibberish or has meaning. I think it adds a lot to the world and makes you pay attention to all the details in the event that you notice a pattern and some hidden meaning.

The logos in TR were a bit like that. Such a shame.

I suspect it is probably just some filler text in the Symbol font rather than actual greek.

It's actual Greek. The question is whether the words mean anything related to SotA.

The denizens of Novia do not speak Greek. That script is an anachronism that shouldn't be there.

Rest assured, all secret messages will be in scripts that make logical sense within the world...

    Ahh, but Lum!

If there are people from our time entering into New Britannia with knowledge of advanced technology, don't you think there is a chance that someone comes through the rift with a knowledge of the Greek language, and has perhaps used it to record some details that only other scholars might decipher?
