UNLESS I've "Locked Down" something in my backpack, I SHOULD be able to DELETE it !
MOST ESPECIALLY ANY QUEST ITEM that we no longer wish to carry !

Or you have to go kill that lich a bunch of times to clean your backpack up! ;)

    good topic! +1

Our backpacks can become quite cluttered with stuff we don't 'want in there/nor can be deleted'

Thanks for the report! Seems like those Roedberk's quest items should be something you could delete. I'll look into it. Issue #69394

Tyvm, @Sannio - that would help - but I'd still be left with a LOT of other quest items that have accumulated over the past 7 years that I should be able to delete.

since deleting quest items could be difficult with all the ways it could break some quests, wouldn't be easier to use the hide quest items option for the inventory?

It would be nice to have the following:
    1) Make the identical quest items stackable so there is only one row that shows for each item regardless of the number of them that you have. This would make the list of quest items far mor concise.
    2) Divide the quest items into two new categories. Each of these categories can be given their own sort category.
    • Quest rewards - e.g. The shroud, bone steel crown, etc. should not be delete-able.
    • Consumable quest items - These items are the ones used up or given away during a quest. Allow the deletion of the quest items (especially because these items are all ones you can obtain again). [Note, some "consumables" are never consumed when you do the quest. They stay in your inventory even though you have "used" them. Not sure that is intended, a bug, or just overlooked].

I think the 2 options above would make the quest items list more user friendly.

Feel free to report each situation/item/set of items. I'll have to look at each one and make the call on a case-by-case basis.

Forgive me @Sannio - but what would be the reason for NOT allowing us to delete ANY quest item in our inventory ?

Because people could accidentally delete them while they are trying to finish a quest. Is one thing I can think of.

Can also hide quest items if they’re distracting

Then give them a warning, just like when we Quit and we're asked if we really want to.....

Yes, but what I'm referring to is having to scroll thru a ton of old Quests (many years ago that I got them), to find what is needed for a current quest.

Except that now you have a quest in stats that may not be recoverable by the player without a full quest reset which can only be done once.

Sometimes you can’t really give people an option (in the case of some quest items).

Let’s give an actual example: The player goes through the main quest in Blood River Outskirts. They finally finish the quests for Drumplemouth. They then get the Manifesto. The player then deletes the Manifesto. Now the player will have several quests stuck in his journal they never can complete, because he deleted the quest item required to finish them.

Gotcha - but DevilCult's new quest turn in that automatically populates the items needed should help with that? I know it doesn't work 100% for all quests yet, but over time, it might mitigate what you're referring to?

Some quests allow you to get replacements for required quest items, others do not. If you were to delete a required quest item which cannot be replaced, the quest is almost certainly broken and can't be completed. It would be a bad experience for players (and a horrible nightmare for my bug-fixing time) to allow required quest items to be deleted.

Off the top of my head, any quest item that can be replaced should probably also be able to be deleted. If these replaceable quest items can't currently be deleted, I'll be happy to change them. (If they come from a conversation, I might have to add some extra responses and logic along the lines of "...And if you lose this item, come back to me and I'll give you a replacement.")
