Announcing the 2021 Holiday Fishing Contest!

Location: Crossroads Alleys at Castle Green and surrounding waters

Fishing Type: Salt water, Fresh Water, Fetid Water, Lava Fishing

Rules:
*** Greetings all! It appears the LAVA pool fishing bug is back which makes lava fishing from pools rather tricky. Therefore, for the duration of the contest, LAVA Fish ONLY may be caught in ANY Zone!!!

I. All fish must be caught in Crossroads Alleys. At Castle Green there are 11 Fetid Pools, 6 Fresh Pools, 2 Lava Pools and all surrounding Water in the Zone is Salt Water. Fish may be caught in ANY Crossroad Alleys dungeons or waters though.

II. Players can turn in one fish of each Fishing type for a largest total combined fishing length.

a. (ie…1 lava fish, 1 fetid fish, one freshwater fish, 1 saltwater fish)

III. All fish must be labeled as caught between December 24th, 12:01am (Midnight Thursday) and December 31st 11:59PM Central Standard Time (Fish must be dated in game Between March 23rd, 634 and October 18th, 634).

IV. Players may turn in more than one fish from each type but only the biggest of each type will be counted.

V. An ongoing Talley of total points will be posted and updated daily during the contest. Click Here for Current Standings

2nd Prize: 2nd Place fishing trophy, 500 Coto’s, Special Silver Fishing Ring, Fishing Throne, Icy Ancient Stone Room Fishing Grotto, Ancient Stone Room Fishing Grotto (D'Laein Lachlan)

3rd Prize: 3rd place Fishing Trophy. 250 Cotos, Special Bronze Fishing Ring, Fishing Throne, Icy Ancient Stone Room Fishing Grotto, Ancient Stone Room Fishing Grotto (Vala Silberblut)

4th Place: Obsidian Potion, PAX Ring, Fish Paver Set (Giant Rustic Fish Paver x2, Large Rustic Fish Paver x4, Small Rustic Fish Paver x8. (Irishize)

ALL Participants: (Turn in at least one of each category fish from Crossroad Alleys) Special Holiday Fishing Participation Trophy. Top 10 Participants also get (1) Obsidian Potion

Other Prizes Depending on Donations and one-off contest add-ons by other community members. Will post any official one-off contests here. Anyone can sponsor specific one-off contest though Strider_Green but must be held in Crossroad Alleys for me to track.

Nitpicking on rule III: I assume you are going to translate the dates to in-game dates before you check the labels on the fish But which time zone will you use?

Great Question! Yes I will translate tournament times into game time (Hopefully with Coswald_Dirthmire's help, our resident math guru), but will be based Novia Time, aka US Central Time.

I would like to sponsor a One-Off Contest". In honor of My RL Uncle Jim who took me fishing every summer. He passed away last year and the only fishing I have been doing is in-game. If possible I would like to get the winning fish to mount on my display wall.

The contest is for the largest Brook Trout AND the largest Spotted Bass. This is not for the "Large" or trophy versions of these though just the regular.

The prize includes:

Dear organizers, will it be difficult to indicate the time zone in GMT (+,-) format? Otherwise I will catch an ichthyosaurus on the 24th, and you still have the 23rd!

 

Yes, Sort of.
We will have the Tournament start and end Times posted in Game Time soon. It's a bit tricky to precalculate a week of game time as it relates to Real Life but we are in the process of this.

FYI- the game servers run on Central Standard time so this contest will begin at 12:01am December 24th, CST.

Thanks for letting us know. This being an intermittent bug, it'll be harder to nail down. We'll keep watching the reports and testing them when we have time. Sorry for the inconvenience
