Have you heard anything about fishing in town hexes Sundews? I would love to be able to fish from my house if there is a lake near enough...

Personally I would class fishing under agriculture.

This is a great idea and am all-in for this. I too have questions as a player town owner. I will not post them yet. I imagine the Q&A might be in Dev+ forums, point to point with the Devs, or in public... I would not know. Google Docs is good for me as I am in Google+. Let me know how we should proceed and count me an PaxLair in.

No, I didn't ask about fishing.

When will we be able to sit down with a Dev for our design session?
What types of NPC buildings will be available?
Are the Add-On Store buildings granted with the township deed meant for use by NPCs?
How many NPCs should we plan on having names and stories for?

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Thanks for the responses so far.

We have a number of options here:
    • Google docs.
    • Dev+ / non-Dev+ thread.
    • Email
    • VOIP

Some combination of the above. ;-) If folks post questions here I can start to collate them in a G-doc then share with others. Would be happy to allow others to have editing rights (within reason, 20+ editors would be crazy!).

(edit: first draft Google doc started -- collating questions for now. I can share access if people PM me).

Naively, if it is a resource spot then no it won't be included. But if it is just for fun then I wouldn't see the harm. I don't have a full chart of the gathering skills in my head so I can't remember what has been decided. :p

Yeah, but I don't think it is according to the strict use of the term. Fishing currently falls under Forestry skill, while food/textile crops are under the Agriculture skill. So it may be limited to what you can harvest on your own plot of land.

I know the answer to this one. The free add-on buildings will be given to the town owner. You still need a land deed to place the house, so if the town owner can't do it, he/she will have to give the house to a player who has a land deed and can place the house.

Im trying to think if there is anything I can do to assist. A large number of people who have bought towns or are planning on it have invited me to participate but I am choosing to stay away from the town scene (at least at this time). That does not mean I would not like to lend a hand for many of the good people and friends I have/know that are participating. I am not coming up with anything though :)

So ill just toss out there. If there is anything you as a group think of that I could be of assistance with, please do not hesitate to let me know and I'll see what I can do! Just wanted to let you know that although I am not participating, Ill still help if I can.

While a little off topic, I'd like to understand the reasoning behind not allowing resources on player-owned town scenes. Maybe this was stated when there was still the idea of scene access control. After all, the player-owned towns are open to the public like an NPC town or scene. Is this discussed somewhere?

As a 16+ year fisherman character, I'd be pretty devastated if we can't fish in our own town. And my fish song is sung so much better while catching fish! *smiles*

Because a player like me would place a bank next to an ore spawn point. :p Can't remember where I read / heard it, think Starr said it.

Perhaps they can work with you to include recreational fishing spots?

So I didn't need to BUY the pavilion I bought? :p
Would have been nice to now that before the fact.

I actually have a lot of extra houses with my personal pledge (and I cannot sell them in the add-on store of course). I am hoping I can trade in the player-owned-town add-on houses for store credits, and get other things the town needs, like cloaks for awards, tools for the citizens, pets as rewards, etc. I fear a lot of house add-ons in the Town add-on may go unused.

Are there any resources inside NPC towns?

If we had the artificial life engine ecology, you could stock fish! (speaking of which I wouldn't mind seeing a catch-and-release feature added to fishing)
I understand the restrictions on harvesting in towns, but I think fish might be an acceptable area for compromise. The spawn rates (doubly appropriate term!) could be adjusted to allow only the most basic fish.

Or better yet, allow a quest mechanism for player towns to unlock fishability. Some kind of nature lovin' story .. This would be a great place to start the possibilities of quest-driven town upgrades.

Holdfast includes 1 free house from the add-on store. I guess you can melt down the pavillion to get it back as a Add-on credit.

I was assuming the free building was for the npc. Its not really clear.

The way I read it these were included for a Holdfast:
    - Central Square with 1 NPC owned building ( no village lot spot needed was my intrepertation)
    - 1 Add On Store House (this one you will need to provide a village lot for) EDIT

    Player Owned Holdfast
Have you ever wanted to own an entire scene? Now you can! A Holdfast is approximately 2/3 the size of Braemar in the Hidden Vale.

    Includes:
    12,600 m2 of player lots
A design session with the Dev Team to define details including:
    ...
Central Square with 1 NPC owned building
    1 Add On Store House
    Notes
Player run towns do not include the lot deeds
There will be a path to achieve this in game via in game gold purchase but the ownership of the scene will incur a rental fee

Yes, that is the way I interpreted as well. The NPC buildings and add-on store buildings are separate. The NPC buildings don't require a lot deed while the add-on buildings do.

1.Will there be a limit to the number of player towns allowed on the map?
2.Will they be limiting the sale of towns per size?
3.Will we be able to tax residents in-game?
