Finally have a rig that will run SOTA decently at hires :)

Backed up my SOTA directory on my older laptop to an external portable backup drive & reinstalled it on the new one. Had to resinstall the launcher since the old one wouldn't run properly. Unfortunately I am now facing downloading & installing 158 patches despite the fact that the files for these are already in the new rig.

Are there any tricks or tweaks I can do to speed up the process ? I"d really like to be able to play R10 if possible.

It kinda sounds like the old files aren't in the new directory. I recently just copied all the game files from my laptop to my desktop the other day and it worked just fine.

    Thanks Bowen, will doublecheck.

I forgot to add, the old laptop has the 64bit Win7 but the new one has win 8.1

I'm not familiar with Win 8 (and hopefully won't have to be) but I have noted that default install locations sometimes differ between OS versions. I personally hate using defaults as they're always buried several layers deep in the directory structure anymore. It annoys me so I always use custom locations.

@Spoon, that's wonderful - now I don't have to debug the new installation. Many thanks!
