    Hail Avatars!

The next community hangout will be on Economy and Chat! We're going to be recapping the game features as they're currently listed and talking about what we need to support a local/global economy that we as the SotA community want! Sign up as this should be a lot of fun!

    Currently on the Agenda:
    • Global chat system(s)
      • Guild
      • Party
      • Do we want/need more? You decide!
    • NPC chat systems(s)
      • What do they do now?
      • How can they be optimized?
      • What do we want to see? You decide!
    • Vendors
      • NPC Vendor likes/dislikes
      • Player Vendor wish list! You decide!
      • Reveal: What does portalarium have planned right now for Episode 1
    • Banking
      • How will it work?
      • Where will it work?
      • What can you do with it?
      • What do we need and what we don't want. You decide!
    • Trade
      • Player to Player avatar trades
      • Player to Player vendor trades (partially covered prior so possibly will be skipped)
    • Adverts
      • Wish list: how can we show what we want sold... signs/barks? You decide!
If you have something you want to see added to this agenda please let me know... if you want to RSVP a spot please reply and let me know. I'm going to be adding this to the Avatars Calendar on AvatarsCircle.com as well. BE THERE!

    Currently up for design:

    What this is not:
This is not a place where people are going to come together and bash Portalarium for things they don't like. If you haven't been following me I'm a huge fan of this game and a firm believer that these guys know what they're doing. I trust them. They know better than I do. That said, I love the fact they're allowing us to be part of development and design like I have never been before. I love seeing the game before all it's parts are in place. I love the community we have here... I have lots of love for lots of things and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Please come ready to voice your requests with respect and in an honorable fashion. I will not tolerate someone bad mouthing another player or Portalarium for a difference of opinions.

    Details:
    • When
      • Sunday, December 21st, at 3pm eastern, 2pm central, 12pm pacific
    • How to get a seat
      • I WILL be posting a link to view the hangout both here and in the #SotA irc channel. I will be posting a join link here and will be only inviting people who go through a vetted system prior... R.S.V.P. or you MIGHT not get a seat! To get an R.S.V.P. reply here with "Save me a spot" or something along those lines and I'll add you to the list below. If you show up late you might not get your spot!
    • What you need to have first...
      • A webcam
      • A microphone (preference on a headset for speakers so we don't have sound quality issues)
      • A reason to be here (I have input on...)
Confirmed attendees (in order of acceptance):

On the subject of economy, item prices all need a once over.

Sometimes the basic mats are worth more than crafted items. Or a first tier crafted item loses money becoming a second tier crafted item. For example, leather is worth a lot more than the hardened leather straps.

They should take a look at values of the basic items in a crafting recipe, total cost of those items consumed and make sure the crafted item is worth more.

In theory, someone from the community could do that, put the values in a spreadsheet and hand over suggestions for new item prices.

Will we all be able to view the hangout? I don't need to be in the hangout, the community already has plenty of good ideas.

Economy? Peg in-game gold to a bitcoin-like cryptocurrency like in Neal Stephenson's REAMDE.

Unfortunately I can't attend, but I'm interested in the write story -> print book -> sell book cycle.

    Particular concerns are:

I would like customers to be able to pick up books in a book store and read them, but not leave with them.
I could then print "teaser" volumes that contain the first couple of paragraphs of a story, and leave them on display in the book store.
If they like the book, they can then buy the full book with the same title from an in-store vendor just like any normal purchase.

I would like the ability to tag a book with author as well as publisher (by default as a crafted item it would only have the publisher).

I would like complete freedom in setting the prices of books, including changing the price for special sales.

I would like to be able to also print single sheet leaflets so people can hand them out to strangers, or post them on notice boards.
These should be cheap to produce, because they are not likely to be sold.

I totally just noticed I have an old list of what is up for design... -.- fail me... fail.

I'll be fixing that in a couple days when the new list comes out I guess. That list is old but it'll be obsoleted in a couple days anyway lol.
