I wounder if it will ibe possible that you provide a layered file (Photoshop etc.) of the pot map for playing around with? This would be a great help for finding a design for my possibly future holdfast.

I am up for helping with testing. I could place village to keep lot given the opportunity.

Well, at least until Rift's End becomes available :)

Is this an actual representation of the Square Footage of a Holdfast cut from the Metropolis size, or just a random crop of a section used to make your example?

If not, perhaps someone could create rectangles (like the house lots) that represent the different PoT sizes so we could compare them to the Paxlair map and see where different sized "towns" would be able to crop out?

All PoTs from holdfast to metropolis will be the same size in area, that is just the section Sean will use for lot placement.

    Excellent Post!!!

So just trying to understand - are you saying that a choice could be for Hamlet to choose ALL of the Paxlair land area as their template but only put down "Hamlet Number" of lots and just have a bunch of roaming area? I just want to make sure i'm on the same page. ;)

I understand the whole crop part of the template out, but that statement above confused me a bit.

Anyway, Keep up the great work, I'm willing to help in any testing...

Well if that is the case, how does this statement fit in:

Choose a portion of the PaxLair template and chop off the rest (delete the rest of the area), for example you may like the Stonehill, Ridgecrest, and Rockville area with waterfall. Working with the Devs, they would need to move the NPC buildings to the center of that area on Highland Street somewhere.

That makes it sound like areas could be smaller.

I am not sure how that part works, only found out about them all being the same size from Darkstarr yesterday sorry.

It seems like the Paxlair template would be good for Docks, Forest, etc Biomes (Which is what I'm looking for anyway), but what about the other Biomes? Would the plan be to just keep this scene geography and repaint the assets to the new Biome type or does it seem like the Devs plan to make a "Few" large templates encompassing different geography types and then from those few large templates create all the other PoT's?

Meaning *this* template is not the end all geographic template to choose from? There could be a few others depending on how this test goes?

I'm just spitballin' here, asking questions so I understand it better. I'm not saying one way or another is right or something is bad. :D

Ok, well as long as i'm on a roll here... what about people who want to use a template like say Owl's Head with a walled city area? Are assets like walled areas and courtyards things the devs would be willing to add to any template or are we pretty much seeing "what you see is what you get". Meaning if someone wanted a walled city, they should wait to use a different template that more matched what they wanted?

    That is really good work.

So, how hard would it be to take an island, make it big enough for a keep lot, have the keep lot 1 level above the landing and a path winding up to it?
Also, any talk of caves? Or am I just going to have to bend the terrain around the dragon bones?

Any word on ice fishing/ice skating? My biome will be snowy.

Also...hoping we can add some music to our town. There is some great music in OpenGameArt site that is all free stuff...Is there the possibility to add something like that to our towns?

I know there a lot of questions to answer since I last visited here, and good questions too! Keep them coming! They will be answered soon in this thread.

Tonight, April 2, 2015 at 7 :15 PM Central US Time, I was in a Twitch LIVE video interview by Lazarus of New Britannia News Network (NBNN). - see http://www.nbnn.info/

I was generally asked the following questions:
    • How far along are you in the planning process?
    • Have the developers been flexible with your design ideas?
    • What are you most interested in talking to the round table about?
    • Can you give us some specific questions you are going to ask the developers during the round table?
    • How do you plan to govern or run your town?
    • Have you finished the towns layout?
    • If so, can we view it somewhere?
    • Do you know where in Novia the town will be placed?
    • How does it feel to be the TEST Town?
These are answered in the 30 minute video and more information is given too!

I am honored to be going to the Duke+ VIP event at Portalarium tomorrow (April 3) to visit with the Developers and the Dukes and Lords of the Manor. My interest is to obviously talk about Player Owned Towns and FISHING, but also want to hear a lot from other high level backers on their goals and ideas. I am one backer in a sea of many (hopefully all of us fishing!) and invest not just money, but time and interest too. I know so many backers invest and participate in many, many ways beyond backer money. Thank you. This is a great adventure for all of us!

I am curious how the Devs will answer the question about placing a few of the PaxLair scenes out as PRTs for people to experiment with.
