The timing of this is quite fortuitous as the Scholars are hosting a Book Faire during R19.. and specifically during the July 4th weekend for the Days of Honor holiday.. (for those who've been paying attention yes I'm still playing with the actual name of the holiday :) )

As such I'd like to offer up my lot in PaxLair as a place to gather and trade books during R19.. and especially during the Book Faire.. if publishing is available.. we'll have it. I do plan on having a printing press on sight. All of the blank books will be on display and.. again if publishing and writing features are available I will probably also keep some extras on hand to give out.

If possible we will also have a collection of pre-published books on display and copies to hand out as well as any books written by players.

As a side note.. I am offering my services as a lore keeper of the Scholars to anyone who would like a lore check on their work. You can simply PM me.

Details of the book faire will be posted later.

I have one. But that's OK, most things I write take up only a single page, so I don't even need the Magical Stapler. :)

Just a reminder... book publishing MAY not be in R19, but don't take the chance and not have something in by June 24!

With my absence from the community I almost missed this. Very exciting! I am going to be publishing *everything* that I have posted here on the forums as well as a few of my other pieces that never made it to public eye yet :)

*this* initiative is, but I think Amber might have a printing press of her own which will run warm for a time...

Does length of story matter? Do we have any idea how many characters will fit a page and how many pages may be in a book ~scratches head~ Mine may be too long ..

Perhaps Release Chapter by Chapter? ~ponders~

We don't have parameters just yet that I've seen.... most of us are playing it safe... what you submitted is perfect - get in as much as you can! Whatever happens may be the workings of chaos!

    Great to have you participating!

My story is still in the polishing stage, but I shall have it done in time to get it entered.

Thanks Port for the first instantiation of books in R19! Woohoo!

    • Player Made Books: Players will be able to write in blank books in the game and share them with other players in our first iteration of Player Made Books. For now, books are created by importing a text file from an external text editor, but we may provide an in-game editor in the future. You can purchase writable books from the Owl’s Head bookstore. Please note the current limitations:
      • Book publishing/copying will come in a later release
      • Books are currently limited to 8000 characters
      • Player Made Books cannot be used as decorations in this release

Get your submissions in by TONIGHT MIDNIGHT CST for the series!

I will be assigning volume numbers at that time.... you could still add a book in as we expand the series in R20, but this will be the first, historic series so please join!

Submission for the SotA Community First Series is now closed! What a wonderful collection to begin book writing in R19!

    Remember, the rules are simple.

20 Entries are much more than I hoped for this event. You need your text as txt file to be able to publish it and you need to buy the blank book to write in from the book store for 2G. No printing press.

I tried it out yesterday on QA, works really nice.

    Wow, 20 books, really cool!

Is there a recommended book name format? How should we name our books so it is not a mess of different styles?

Community First Series Vol. 1 - The Road Not Taken
Klaus the Mouse, Pt. 1 Community First Series II
Community First Series #3 (Raven's Story)
CFS:4 Story of the Guard Captain
Community First Series Volume 5 - A Story of "Beauty in the Underworld"
Community First Series VI: The Monster in the Maze
    ...
