    Howdy everyone!

If you know of someone sitting on the fence about getting involved with SotA, then let them know a 24 hour sale is happening on Steam right now! It is only the Aventurer's level pledge, but it a great way to get them started!
    :D

Still firmly convinced that Early Access on Steam (with reviews) was a mistake.

Yeah, it can have its downsides when folk don't bother to read & understand the warning in Steam.

But hey, it brought me and my family here and I think we haven't been too bad.
(Well at least the guys haven't been too bad! :) )

Actually, that's how *I* installed the game in first place... :p

But still, a PR mistake.

    Yes. 100% with you. :)

Quoting from Jeremy Parish, USG Editor-in-Chief:

    On Early Access and Reviews
The rise of Early Access has created a conundrum for the press: How should we cover those games? The material that makes its way into the public eye through Valve's service varies wildly in quality and completeness, and there's certainly a temptation with some of the more polished and near-final Early Access titles to review them like final retail releases in order to be among the first outlets to publish a review and scoop up those sweet, sweet search engine rankings.

And it's almost a defensible approach. Even a slightly rough Early Access title could potentially feel more finished and stable than certain infamous big-budget releases from last fall! Nevertheless, USgamer's official policy is not to review Early Access games, no matter how review-ready they may seem. We'll write about them, praise their strengths, criticize their flaws... but we won't offer a final verdict or a number until those games graduate from Early Access to Steam proper.

In the press, we see incomplete software builds all the time. We wouldn't write a review based on an alpha build we play at E3 or Tokyo Game Show. And we'd never review a full game based on its demo. Early Access is a little different in that you're paying for the privilege to essentially beta test a game... but still, it IS a beta test. Most developers use Early Access to gauge interest in and collect feedback for their game, and that means these products are still incomplete. As such, we can't review them.

It's a blurry line these days, we realize. Final retail releases usually aren't truly final these days — even outside of extreme cases like Halo: The Master Chief Collection or Assassin's Creed Unity, great games continue to receive downloadable content and balance-tweaking patches for months after release, some of which have a profound impact on the game experience. As such, we're constantly evaluating our review process... but our goal is to make criteria for review eligibility more constrictive, not less. If anything, the similarity of Early Access games to many "complete" releases simply reinforces the need to take more time with all of our reviews. -

Can we just NOT have this discussion again?
    Nothing to do about anyway.
    Just enjoy the sale.

    Hmm a question to someone more STEAMy;
Can one purchase some extra accounts during the sale and then use the STEAM gift system to give them away at a later time?

to be honest I was sad to read my old review of the game and all the points that I thought was hopeful selling points for this game. Every single point I used in my original positive review for this game I realized after I saw how it was implemented I did not like the way it took form.

I have nothing personal against Portalarium or Shroud of the Avatar. I am just being honest when I say this game is not one that I can recommend because on EVERY single point that I was hoping would be a selling point I was shocked that I was disappointed on each of them. It blew me away because I didn't realize it until I saw my old review. but on each point on my review, I remembered posting in the forums my disappointment on each of these issues as I saw them implemented in the game.

It's great that they are discounting it much heavier now! But, it's only a Flash sale and will end soon. I hope they keep it that way until Alpha.

Its the fourth sale so far.
Also the summer sale with 25% continues for a couple of more weeks.
Expect STEAM sales to continue in a similar pattern.

Its a pity that they are not allowed to give us details about the sales through steam.
I am courious if its worth the effort.
