I have not tried to craft my own arrows yet, but has anyone figured out the cost of making arrows from the cost of buying arrows. I know you need to make arrow heads and as well as the arrow itself. I am finally at a point with my archer that I am able to make enough gold to support my ammo usage but it is no where near the same amount of gold I got when I played a hybrid melee/mage build before.

You know, this isn't too bad without the arrows. You just have to run - a LOT. Until your focus comes back. At least for the lower level stuff, that is. :)

Ok so I once again will SHOW you can train archery without using ANY arrows.

Yes it will go slow, yes it will eat up Focus, yes it is BORING, No you will not gain any EXP.

BUT you can train ALL the archery skills you want and ANY related skills plus ANY ranged Margery skills and MANY other skills.

NOT one arrow in my bag - No Auto attack still requires arrows but not plain old Training.

You can see my skills and the little green bars moves :)

I don't know if it was a bug that was fixed in the last update or because I had my glyphs locked but it wasn't working a day or two back.

I guess my question may be better phrased as: why do mages and swordsmen not love nature?

Nice video. How would this work at release when EXP pools are not there? I assumed part of testing was to comment on what things would be like for a person starting with nothing. All this talk about training on gust balls or using things like your video most likely will not work at release since you will start with no EXP. So the only way to effectively train is to do something, kill things or do quests that give exp.

Ranged is actually very fun once you get past the initial slow expensive grind if you are trying to do a pure archer type

Absolutly nothing to do when release hits, players should understand that they cannot do this without Exp points.

And your points is true but if you Glance at my other thread I explain you can get 50 = 100K exp and gold from the Quests All over :)

So even this could work even from 0 starting points to at least get you going, and once you start the Archery Glyphs you can just roll thru all Your Exp in a jiffy. :)

Thing is you can kill stuff without the arrows too (so you'd probably get exp from it too without the starter boost we get now). It's just very, very slow. You'd probably spend a long, long time in the beginners area without the arrows to supplement.

Ahem.. STOP USING AUTO ATTACK AS ARCHER!..
you are just throwing money and potential dmg away.
Use charged attacks and you will see the difference.
Fresh from start zone a charged arrow would do 20-35 dmg to a zombie.
    that's like a 1/4 their hp.

Also getting crafting mats and making arrows is waaaaay easier than buying them.
Stop taking the no brain way of playing and its a breeze.

Um...how are you able to use charged attacks when you are being chased by a mob of wolves ,bears, or undead  ? (I rarely ever come across only one or two foes :( For some reason, they seem to REALLY like coming after me in groups )

Might depend on the scene and mobs you are grinding on? Sometimes if you pull a pack, best bet is to outrun it until most of them return and sneak up again and try to drag away a straggler or two. Well, for melee mobs any way. Do it to a ranged and

Kind of hard to outrun them :( Haven't had much success in pulling just a single straggler away  Most of the time, I end up running right into ANOTHER mob, which makes things even worse

Mostly in my encounters, if the whole pack comes for you run! Then if they go back and you approach, it 'sometimes' doesn't trigger the whole pack, just one or two. Helps if you do a back and forth in a short distance, like shoot, run, shoot, run pass the mob back to the beginning position, shoot, repeat. Less likely to trigger other mobs, in the area. Just gotta find the short path that doesn't trigger the others first:D
You think also maybe more points in the sneakiness branch or whatever its called might help? :) Recalls that used to help with it sometimes?

Mages and swordsmen refuse to hug trees.

That doesn't make sense, every other physical weapon relies on autoattack to do damage (or you die) - why cripple archery ?

A better solution would be to slow the mob with a bola arrow , hurt it at range then finish it off with a melee weapon.

This does nothing though for the pure Archer build.
