Root is great if you're only fighting one.

Does critical success still just give +3 strength?

I'm not sure if you are fully covering this concept material entirely. I do not question that xp is split among applicable passives, but i'm not sure that amount increases with total pool and i do know there seem to be other factors. I was killing flesh-flayers when i leveled a passive to the point that i wanted it at. At that point i switched to leveling a different passive which was <1/2 the level of the first. While i was leveling the first passive i was slowly shrinking my xp pool, whereas when i switched to the lower level one i instantly started gaining xp(Notable xp drain/gain change.. its not like i just got my pool low enough that skill uses cost less).

This would imply that skill level has something to do with how much xp a passive takes. I do not know the formula under which this operates or more importantly how experience is distributed if you have 2 passives turned on which are of different levels.

Do you know anything more about this system? Also what basis do you have for the idea that a larger pool increases the amount of xp per use? (I know on actives i had similar low-level xp gains on skills i started with 10k xp and 80k xp).

works for the groups actually... I use random deck so I can keep 2 or 3 rooted at distance while fighting only the one remaining... that's why having more than 1 is so important. +1 for random deck ^.^

Tested it very thoroughly with Stranger and Margaritte and a larger pool 100% adds more per skill use. It is a very noticeable difference. Chris also confirmed this in one of the other threads we were talking about it.

I reckon that depends on how many Roots ya' got comin' up.... ;)
I often have 2 and occasionally 3 rooted at any given time.
I tab thru them and hit the one who is likely to damage me the most first, then move on from there....
I do have the luxury of 5 to choose from tho'...

For example, tonight I had 2 Obsidian wolves rooted while I dispatched the Elder that was with them... By the time I was about finished with the Elder I got another root off on one of the two Obsidians - fought the other one until dead - then on to the last...
Easy-peasy when you have several to use and set your deck so you see them often... ;)

Worth mentioning that root is wonderful also to increase dramatically the DPS of subterfugers.

Root, go behind them, totally devastate them.

Despite what some players think, the relative positioning (and subsequent "dance around enemies") skill is really, really important. I can AT LEAST double my hurt output when behind a target.

Taking gaming lessons to real life... this means to carry a bola with you and always hit them from behind!

Are there any solid tips/guidelines for Focus management while levelling? I'm at Adventurer Level 21 now with 55 Blades, using a 2 Handed Sword and a mix of plate and chainmail. I'm running out of focus after perhaps 2 enemies killed, and not seeing any way to increase its regeneration on the leveling trees. In addition, when I press "V", I have 0 Combat Focus Regen and only 0.0020 or such (two per tick) for my non-combat focus regen. Its making things rough, and I can only imagine how bad its going to get if I'm not missing something to help manage focus better :(

I was told that the armor you are wearing has an effect on it, but I compared my normal set with nude and saw no difference at all on the "V" screen.

Yes, it's in the area of twenty five now. Roughly the same as str and dex.

Some templates are OOM every fight, some run forever. That's how it works at the moment.

My Focus Regen at level 31 is 0.015 , below is my Focus Tree :

    T1 : Heightened Awareness 33
    T2 : Train Intelligence 27 , Quick Swapper 27
    T3 : Inner Calm 29
    T4 : Follow Through 17

I also have a Water & Ice Elemental plus (with the Jutaxpose Chaos spell) the ability to flip the water/ice summons to a fire elemental summon. It lets me go easy on skill & spell use. Fyi, the water elemental's healing spells are bugged in R24 but Port accepted my bug report - there's a good chance that will be fixed in R25.

I think the Water Elly does the animation without the heal going off. Maybe it does during the fight, I'm usually too busy watching.
