If I buy it on steam can it only be played on steam?

 

No. It grants you an adventurer pledge. At that point, one can attach a SotA account to the steam account, then download the game from their account page on the sota website.

 

As long as it isn't attached to steam I can't go wrong buying this as a gift. My friend is on the fence about playing this. I think it is just the $45 pledge holding him back. For half that I would give him the account to see how he likes the game. Thanks and merry Christmas!

 

Thanks for the head's up. I've been looking to get a few extra accounts to give out.

 

Just to be clear, you have to attach it to a steam account to get access to the adventurer pledge.

Therefore, your friend needs steam to use it.

 

Ok that's what I was afraid of. I know he doesn't have steam and probably would start using it.

 

Only a few more days to get the half price!

 

Have they got their hacked site fixed yet? Not sure I feel very secure buying anything from them.
