I dearly hope your project won't go the way of most others: as recipes change with development-grade frequency, the owner of the site stops updating, and the site becomes abandonware.

I started this by tracking recipes for just myself using google docs.
Then I shared my docs with a few friends, and well that went from a few friends to so many people Google sent me an E-Mail asking me to either upgrade or move my Doc
So I moved to a Web-Site that could better handle the traffic.

With all that said, I do not this will be abandoned, it is still for my own personal use. I am just sharing my knowledge to others to help make there lives a little easier.
As updating the Web-Site goes, because all my documentation is done with tools outside the game it is very easy for me to update and publish.

The one thing I am wondering is how far I can actually go before I break any of the rules for using game content on my site....
The legal junk I have read sounds like I cant use anything. but it is also my understanding is that Portalarium is not enforcing any of the use agreement legal junk.

I assume they will send me an E-Mail if they do not like what I'm doing, so tell they do

Edit: The best thing about the recipes is that they look similar to the recipes in the in-game recipe book, but they are easy to read!!

oh noes, carpentry the recipes for staff, long wooden bowstave and short wooden bowstave are not correct

 

FYI a lot of this seems out of date. I am trying many recipes which fail to craft anything. Many of the recipes actually craft other things instead. Many are right though. Seems like they change these up with every release, its going to be really hard to keep up.

 

That' why I mentioned go to Owl's Head, there is a crafting vendor there that sells all the recipes.. I had to use it to find out many of the recipes, as many have changed drastically.

I helped Ashmaul a bit in getting some of the new recipes from the QA server and trying to verify some of them with the R26 release for this website, so I think I have a pretty good idea of how serious he is about maintaining this site. I have faith that he will get this and keep this fully updated because it was originally created for his (and our guilds) personal use. So it's important to him to have a reliable resource that is complete and correct. He also has a lot invested in this game (a couple POT's and lots of fancy add-ons) so I don't think he's going to fade away any time soon.

Yes, some of the weapon recipes still need to be updated from what we discovered on QA. Part of the reason for that is because some of them weren't in-game until some recent patches. Another reason is because he's been helping out with a project rebuilding Hometown which he's been putting a lot of time into. I'm pretty sure he has gotten all the newer recipes (or at least most of them) and just needs to find some time to fix them.

Besides the recipes themselves, he also has info on the materials used and their varying stats (make sure you choose armor or weapon type from buttons that appear), as well as some short tutorial videos for some of the crafting stations. These should help beginner crafters out to learn how the tables all work. I'm sure he'll add more of those for other stations as he finds the time.

All in all, it's a great resource for anyone who crafts. It's easy to read, and easy to navigate to find the info you need to succeed. I highly recommend it!

The likelihood of them exposing an API is small to nonexistent.

When attempting to design the crowdsourcing feedback system, one of the main hangups that kept it from getting off the ground was the lack of an API. Despite working directly with the devs for a period of 6 months or more, we were never able to get them to release it.

I am updating the Site to make it easier to read. I am also populating the the images I was missing.
I have been working on stream lining and formatting the process, to get the update time down to a single days effort. New that this is done I am migrating every thing to the new process.
As of right now Alchemy is completed to the new format.
