Why are we now beaming into scenes?
In every scene I arrive it looks like as if Scotty just beamed me down from the Enterprise with this blue effect around me.

This destroys the sense of arriving at the scenes by foot.

Is that not the invulnerability vfx?

    • Temporary Invulnerability: When players respawn after death or first appear in a scene, they are temporarily invulnerable for a few seconds, or until they perform an action

Yea im not really a fan of the vfx ether. the look of me "jumping" into a scene kinda immersion breaking. i want to walk into scenes not yea beam down into them.

It looks really weird. Maybe it is the effect but it really looks like being beamed down. Maybe there should be a different effect for this...

Also wouldn't it only make sense to be invulnerable if we are PvP flagged? So maybe the invulnerability should be tied to this flag?

Apparently in some instance, that I haven't seen, folks were getting mobbed when they zone in by mobs. ( If you die at the entrance to a scene, you probably shouldn't be there!!!)

it is a beautiful animation, that i am sure someone worked hard on, but i dont think it fits well with the game. it does seem almost like were "beaming" into each zone. even a simple fade-in would be less, i dunno, scifi? or just simply display an "invincible" buff icon for 2s and it disappears.

I just looked at it again. I think the problem is that the Avatar "slowly" materializes in the scene. If it would only be the blue shimmering effect, I think it would be ok. But the materializing out of thin air compared with the effect simply looks like beaming...

It isn't really fair to be ganked by mobs as soon as you enter a scene. If it's your first time for example how are you to know? The basically just gave you the kobiashi maru scenario. That's not fun.

I like it.. even though it may seem unimmersive :D Looks great, feels as tho I've entered the holodeck (isn't that what scenes are???) :) and I'm ok with that.

It doesn't really bother me that much.. yet.. but I do agree it does look like beaming in. I think that was the first though I had also like.. what the hell is this? But then I remembered invulnerability and stopped thinking about it. It does seem a little out of place visually but it's a gamey game mechanic.. so.. meh whatever. :)

It is good vfx for recall and teleport, but for walking into the zone, a simple blue highlight might be suffice

well I noticed they at least fixed the "falling" when you zone into a scene.
havnt been on live yet but on the QA u literaly were "droping" in before you got the vfx.

idk, I still feel weird about it for zone ins. You would think they just would adjust spawn placement so there isn't auto aggro when you zone in, instead of create a mechanic to protect you, but /shrug.

I actually like the falling from the sky scene. Totally shroud of the terminator...

Not a big fan of the visual - would prefer walking. If going between overland and scenes could do some size changing visual and be more thematic IMO.

Yea id like to see eventualy like sorta an old school overland map zone. Like the camera zooms down onto the zone your going in, sorta old ff style without the swirl lol.

Maybe an idea is they should have a section in the Video or Game Option for Immersion with options to turn on off things that people prefer that are quick wins for development to do such as vfx On Scene Entry etc etc.
