I am having trouble trying to get the launcher to run on a linux machine running OpenSuSE Leap 42.1.
I have downloaded the latest .gz file and unzipped.
When I run the launcher from the command line it does not open any window and exits without any error messages.

This is all I get when I run the command:

    Set current directory to /home/david/Downloads/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher
Found path: /home/david/Downloads/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/Shroud of the Avatar - Launcher.x86_64
    Mono path[0] = '/home/david/Downloads/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/Shroud of the Avatar - Launcher_Data/Managed'
    Mono path[1] = '/home/david/Downloads/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/Shroud of the Avatar - Launcher_Data/Mono'
Mono config path = '/home/david/Downloads/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/Shroud of the Avatar - Launcher_Data/Mono/etc'
    david@davidlaptop:~/Downloads/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher>

Can anyone point me in the direction of log files or anything else that I can start to look at to solve the problem.

I have no problem on my Ubuntu 14.04 setup.

Any help would really be welcome.

I'm having issues as well. Black screen and launcher that closes itself. AMD - open source drivers.

I just found a workaround. I can get the game to launch using the 32-bit launcher.

    Figured out launcher issue!
Some setting in the home/.config/unity3d/Portalarium/Shroud of the Avatar-Laucher/prefs had somehow been set to 0 for the display.
I deleted the whole unity3d folder from the .config directory and re-ran the launcher. That worked for me and downloaded the game files.

I am still having a problem getting the game to run though and it crashes after a black screen.
Any help appreciated and if I figure things out I'll post solutions/reasons here for anyone else that has the problem in future.

Hello all, so, i have the same problems...but..=)
1 PC (home) - problem here
    AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T, nvidia 960gtx, 16Gb RAM, Linux mint 17 x64, dual monitor (HDMI, DVI), 352.63 drivers
Black screen and shut down with the both clients - steam and standalone, x32 clients starts but crushes after few minutes.

2 PC (work) - game works fine, both clients(steam, standalone) starts and playable.
    AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1075T, nvidia 750gtx, 16Gb RAM, linux mint 17 x64, dual monitor (DVI, D'sub), 352.63 drivers

As we see both pc are the same except cpu, videocard and monitor type.
If needed i can provide any info about both machines to help understand and solve this issue.

    WBR Indarien )
Edited RAM sry, 16Gb, not Mb )))

    Il try to ask again.
I cant play without random bsod on win (all another works fine, i have bsod only in sota), i cant play on Linux cos i have black screen, ok, its alpha, i understand, i can test the game on another OS and send a lot of reports, that issues not a problem cos game is great and i purshased Founder to help more and read all forum topics, that was more than week ago, i send a report via forum that i dont have access - no chance, please tell me how much i must still pay to read the forum where i may be find how to resolv my problems cos both problems are blockers for me and i cant do anything.
No chance, no answers, very sad.

you don't have to pay anything more, you just have to inform portalarium properly. you reported it in the general discussion forum, not the bug forum. post it here.

Could you please post the output of the following (just copy-paste all of it into a terminal) from both machines (both the working one and the one which has problems) :
    Code:
    echo '[spoiler="output"]'; sudo lshw -short -C processor -C memory -C display ; glxinfo | grep -i opengl ; uname -rvi ; echo '[/spoiler]'
I believe this info would not hurt in a bug report either.

Also I'd suggest deleting the game and reinstalling, just to be sure there's no corruption. At least in steam it's good to verify the integrity of downloaded files (right-click the game title --> properties --> local files --> verify integrity of the game cache). I understood everything else works so I'd presume for example this benchmark works without any issues?

Then i see a normal start and button play is available and game is playable.

On 1PC, wich is my home PC, i have dual boot Linux Mint 17x64 and windows 7x64, Linux getting black screen and on windows i get random BSOD, it can be in a 5 min, or after 3-4 hours playing sota, i read windows dumps and see only kernel and hal in bsod reports.
Any other games, for example - D3, GW2, TSW, AO on windows and War Thunder on linux, all of them works absolutely perfect. I did a lot of stress test to my hardware - 0 errors.
Im rdy to send any info about my OS and PCs.

I reported it last month as bug report on release day - and nothing has changed. Release 29 still suffers from this bug.

Game cant set resolution and\or graphic settings, prefs file must be created by game, but, while game is crushing prefs cant be created, so, just create it and put in
    ~/.config/unity3d/Portalarium/Shroud of the Avatar/
Try this prefs file (under spoiler) and, its important - dont forget to change resolution height and width to your primary display resolution set. May be dont need to put all options from my file, il continue testing, but...this may help =)
This is only for Linux. (I dont know how it will work under Windows)
If you resize Unity panel or may be another panels on a workspace you can get black screen again, if it happened, dont need to rewrite prefs, just edit resolution height and width again, to default resolution set of primary display.

Plz, let me know how it goes. And have a nice game )

    Update - solved.
I had not had the time to investigate this further until today.

Ah - spoke a little too soon.
The above worked and I was able to log into the game and all appeared to work ok.
I logged out and then tied to log in again.
Now back nothing happening from the launcher.

This must be ( I presume) something to do with these prefs files as it did work and game played.
I will try and investigate more and will update if I figure it out.

I am sure you are on the right track Indarrien.
