Generally, I like the overall look of the Edellmann house. However, there is something that bugs me about the house. The house is tall enough to have a second floor, but it is only a single floor house. It is the same height as the Viking house, which has two stories. I think either the roof needs to be lowered to represent a single story house or have a second floor room put in. I can't tell from the pictures but maybe it has a big vaulted ceiling? Personally, I would prefer a second floor bedroom over a cathedral ceiling.

Air conditioning and cooling wasn't a topic back in the days in Germany, but heating was... I would bet the thatched roof house in the picture had two floors as well.

I certainly hope they add another floor to the Edelmanns home.

Good info Rodriguez I wasn't able to get any stats on the thatched house so very possible it contains a second floor. If they want to add another floor to the Edelmann house I'm not against this, would make better use of the high ceiling at least.

I'd try to add a loft or something. Small ladder or staircase up to it.

Citizen $500-550 + Viking house for $50 = $550-600 for village plot and a house with loft.

Edelman $550-575 for a house with one floor. Of course you get extra perks for edelmann tier as well.

However, if you looking at it truly as a housing choice. Some may pass on the Edlemann tier and go Citizen/Viking combo.

    Decisions, decisions..... lol.

It wouldn't need to be a full second floor, a loft that is accessible by a ladder would be acceptable. With me it isn't about the sq.ft. to $ ratio. It's more about if the house is going to be sized that big, why not use the space. The house is in a game, it doesn't need an attic for insulating purposes.

I have to agree, I too thought it was akward to have a 2nd story window and then there would be no way to open it. I guess they are going to make it a faux window.

I concur that there should be some kind of little loft up there to make it legit.

You have to remember the Viking house can be purchased without any other tiers. All you need is a village lot $150 + Viking house $50 = $200.
The Edelmann house you can only get with a pledge at the Edelmann tier $570-575.

OK ok i set myself up for that one...

The farmer makes a good point, why pledge edlemann when you can go this route and have a bigger place at less than half the price.

The Edelmann Pledge comes with a rent-free plot, and a commission-free vendor (among other goodies). For me, I'd rather save up for Edelmann than purchase a normal taxed plot.

I pledged at the Edlemann level to have those extra perks (beer making), but where are we going to put all those kegs of beer without some storage space?

My point is there are somewhat affordable housing options. You don't even need to buy a house, just buy the village lot, stake your land and then save up money in game and purchase a house from an architect or even a player. Land will be in short supply, not houses. As I am looking at the add-on village lot vs. the Citizen or Edelmann tier, I am curious as to just how much will rent actually be? How many months does $300 pay for in rent, not to mention the commission-free vendor?

Regardless, I am slowly saving up to the Edelmann tier, I have a ways to go yet though. I am wondering how much time do I have before it sells out? The total pledge amount has risen by quite a bit in just the last couple days. I think people are really pushing to hit 2.5mil.

I agree. I felt the house, although very nice, seemed a bit small. Especially for a brewer's house which will be filled with kegs.
I was expecting a second floor at 1st glance of the exterior.

Sinking in that top wall with the window to make some kind of blacony would be nice.
The above loft idea is nice as well.

I guess with the basement add-on, house size isn't as much of an issue.
Upper balcony still would be cool.

I think the Edelmann House does need a loft or second story. From what I can tell on the pictures, there is no vaulted ceiling it is just space that can't be accessed. It should do something like the tower home, with a less spacious second floor. Throw in the basement as a standard and that's 3 floor and more worth it for the Edelmann pledge in my opinion.

    /Agree... ;)

But the rent-free deed is also tempting!

But a loft and a small 1st floor balcony would be a great way to really fininsh the German style Edelmann house!

(I am a Founder Citizen, aiming to do Edelmann before Oct 14!)
