Gold Crowns of the Obsidians

We have discussed this but harder to balance because we don't manage the drop rate of the chips the same way.

 

So disappointed you can't get the Viking gear other than in a huge bundle. I already have 3 accounts with tax free lots, really just want the home (and other Viking items now that I see it).

we are evaluating how to do this without devaluing the bundle. Stay tuned.

 

I hope not as it gives those that buy these bundles a little exclusiveness, original backers have far to much of the pie.

 

However these coins will not be able to be bought from a vendor with gold. So can we sell these coins on our vendors so other players can buy them from us? Will there be anything preventing us from selling it for more than the gold value that we can get from selling the crowns to NPC vendors?

In fact what is the exchange rate for these coins? Do we get 10,000 gold per coin 100,000?

 

Question: Can the Crowns be obtained from low level mobs and low level nodes at a minuscule percentage? Also nice to have a very small chance to obtain when growing crops. Would make checking EVERYTHING exciting.

Would be interesting to hide a handful on the world map and hidden in scenes to encourage active exploration. Just ensure not exploitable and the location random to avoid camping/farming.

 

Lol, well we don't have word on the prosperity discussion yet, so we'll have to see which title he gets for that one, lol.

Would the team be open to, after release, having COTO linked to your account in some fashion? Basically what I'd like to see is COTO being spent in the Add-On Store rather than direct cash purchases. This has two benefits:

• Players who don't spend cash, but find coins "in the wild", could opt to save these for Add-On Store purchases, instead of only getting the Potions of the Obsidians, gold, or repairing their gear. This would be a VERY small percentage, but some folks might want to use these for Black Dye instead, especially if they are dedicated craftsmen.
  
  
• There would be a single point of entry for the store. Essentially, COTO and Gift Store Coupons would be one and the same. Everything would be listed as COTO (or just Crowns).

Inside the bundle descriptions the Viking Chest description says.. "no only" instead of "not only".

 

Time = Money
There are no combat bonuses for sale.
Obsidian Coins can be obtained in game with TIME.

 

I'm not strictly against premium currencies - but it feels pretty bad that this is published while durability seems unsustainable.

That and the fact that swift gathering keeps getting nerfed to where we need to use the potions to have effectively high speed and afaik no one has shown being able to get crowns well through game play.

 

An Ancestor pledge to get a row lot and house is $275. The Viking bundles start at $250. They're not devalued if you offer a smaller bundle of the other items separately. The Viking bundles are still good deals for new players, especially when pledge tiers are fully retired.

You could sell the helmet, cloak, chest and pet as $10 items each, with a $35 bundle for the four. And I bet a lot of existing backers with game/land packages will pick that up.

 

Yea I see what ur saying, id rather a 18.99 monthly subscription model but they have to.keep the lights on or the servers go down.

well it was said from the start that you guys weren't going free to play, nor were you going subscription fee. Thus the only way to go for regular income would be what GW2 did of premium currency for real life money. Anyone who didn't see this coming wasn't paying attention.
