If you like it, feel free to donate to Jacobs site. It is worth the few shekels he request to help him along with it. A good deed should not go unrewarded! I would love to see every POT in the game have a basic map of key buildings and names of town members who are living within!

Devs changing it all the time. So, it might be not accurate. We are still under development.

i.e. "We have not spent much time over in the Hidden Vale in quite a while, and those scenes have gotten out of date with new features like Dynamic Spawners and Tier Markers." Starr Long, Release 30 Instructions

Jakub, when I first saw the changes to the Novia Overland Map... the first thing I thought of was you and how this is going to affect your fantastic map. They redesigned rivers and lakes and bridges and all sorts of things that will look much different than your map images.

I hope the changes aren't too hard for you to make on your map.

Same thoughts here. Apart from the Cataclysm I can't imagine a bigger change to the map. Best of luck to Jakub and all of our cartographers! :)

    Hi Jakub,

I'm very curious when Brittany will be added in and it's suburbs, I'd love a birds-eye view and am curious :)

Judging by the Layout maps it looks like the geography is located in different spots. Water on east side instead of west etc.

It was probably something that was requested and since they were able to do if they made it available to everyone. Forest01a is the same as Forest01 except the cobblestone parking lot is removed by the ocean.

It's not like they are naming it something completely different that suggests it's a whole NEW original template. How else would they differientiate between the different options if not through name?

    @Jakub White
sotamap.com is absolutely brilliant and no in-game map could be as good. I am very curious how you determine the layout of the scenes.

It's high time that I make a donation to this site, because I use it all the time.

One good way to understand the concept of map rotation is to go to Etceter and Kingsport. Are you aware that Etceter is essentially a rotated Kingsport with some variation by the dock area?

Rotating the map will also change the direction of where the sun rises and comes down as well. I'm not sure if the default entrance and the town crier location has changed, though.

Oh it's really simple. Let me explain that on the example below.

    MAKING OF KILN:

    Step 1:
I'm entering to scene that I want to map and during runs along borders of the forest, rivers, cliffs, along the roads etc. I'm gathering coordinates using /loc command. Doing this I get an output text file like this.

    Step 2:
Processing that data, converting them to SVG file (It's a vector graphic file), and then converting SVG file to jpeg.

    Step 3:
I'm importing that jpeg draft in to Photoshop...

    Step 4:
...and draw each layer: roads, palisades...
    ...cliffs:

    Step 5:
When I finish the background image, I have to cut it for tiles like described here.
When interactive layers are added, it looks like this:

    That's it :)

That's a full-time job. I don't think most players realize all the work that goes into creating these maps. I really don't know what to say - anything I could say would be inadequate to express my thanks and appreciation.
