Right now, Linux is crashing instantly on entering the world (right after the play online screen, or right after the character name bit).

    Reproduction rate: 100%
    Blocker: Completely
Details: Game crashes before the scene even renders
Steps: Log in or create character
    Specs: Ubuntu 16.04 64bit 16G RAM
    GeForce GT 740/PCIe/SSE2
    Fresh install of SotA

Update - scene now renders, followed by instant death and "exit to sky" and crash to desktop.

Try #1 of Linux known issues.

You don't have time to move around as a ghost. It's maybe 1-2 seconds from "scene starts to render" to crash.

There's a note on it in the instructions. Use the 32 bit client (just for char creation and then you can switch back) or start moving forward with w (not the mouse) just before the scene loads and make a run for the mirror to make your char.

I can confirm, I can hardly see anything in-game and it crashes shortly after entering the game. I have a 64-bit only system.

I've done it successfully. Start pushing w just before load.

I'll try holding down W the entire time from "resume"

Nope, that just buys me a second, since I can't talk to her.

I'm pretty much out of patience with R29-32 being constantly worse. I will return eventually, but this is beyond even alpha testing. If my devs turned something like this into me, I'd give them a look and tell them to come back when they were serious.

I am trying this, but it seems useless. Black screen for a moment and then crash.

@Attenwood says this will finally be fixed in patch one, due today.

We'll see. TBH, I've heard that before.

I don't think we ever claimed a fix for these Linux issues before. I can personally vouch for this one.

Not that I know of - I meant more generally when devs promise that the fix to (insert issue here) is in the next patch ;)

I will stick around to see this patch, and I fervently hope the game becomes playable again! There's a lot of new zones I haven't been able to see yet

The issue with Linux had to do with code that was being called based on movement states for things like ghost, or having coconuts equipped. I was giddily galloping around, and creating new characters with ghosts for the first time in months on my test version of the code change this morning. ;)

Note that not ALL Linux issues will be resolved yet, but this is a colossal step forward from where we've been, imo. :)

If "exit to sky" and movement are patched, it'll be at least R29 level again. That'll work for me! I haven't gotten to use my coconuts in ages!

By starting the game this way you have virtually excluded all linux users as if they had not contributed. It doesn't seem right.

I wonder if there is any Lord of the Manor Linux user. In that case, he/she surely is not very happy at the moment.

I am one. Fortunately I did manage to do the 'w' "trick" eventually, and create my character and place a home. However, I did not have an hour in-game to prepare, more like 10 minutes. *sigh*

There are other issues too, like no sound, but worse is that my camera is often and suddenly jumping either straight up or straight down. Rather crazy and making it very hard for me to move around. I don't think it's viable for me to do much more than awkwardly moving around town like this.
