Anyone know the name of the SOTA song in this video? I can't find it anywhere!

One of the earlier songs for SotA, the old overland map tune. Anyone know the name of it? The soundcloud location of it? The author, anything? Thanks. Is it still in the game? If so where? Thnx.

I believe that was from the Kickstarter prototype, so it isn't a croud-sourced song. I'm not sure if that is something they had picked up in the Unity store, or if it was something Portalarium commissioned from before. As far as I know, it is not in the game any longer. @RichardGarriott or @Chris would probably be the ones to ask; this even predates Starr or FireLotus...

It's the best song in SotA, who wrote it? Surely one of you did. Why was this amazing song buried? Strange. Best song I ever heard in the game hands down, yet no one knows who wrote it, where it came from, why it disappeared. I posted this video w/ the soundtrack, recorded it in-game as I walked around the overland map. The next release or so they changed the overland map music which was sad. This overland map music made me enjoy the overland map, that's how good it was. It's an iconic song, there are no copyright claims on the video so youtube's content id match doesn't know who wrote it, it only recognizes it as SotA footage.

I've been listening to all of the Poets' Circle playlist to try and find that track, but I haven't had any luck yet. I'm pretty sure that Jayson is right about that song being a pre-crowdfunding item. I might be wrong though.

    Poet's Circle Approved List

If you want to take a listen, I'm reasonably certain that playlist, put together by Holt Ironfell, contains all of the SotA music to date, plus a few older tracks as well.

    Listened to all 76 in this playlist;

And it's not in there. That playlist has 5 additional songs. I'll check. But, I doubt it's in there. We'll see.

Strange the #1 best song in the game has been buried, like it's a conspiracy or something. Reminds me of the best song from Ultima IX that didn't make it on to the music CD for that game. I know everyone has different tastes in music, but, I'm a music nerd, have hundreds of albums, have a big vinyl collection, really a fan of music, if I had to guess, people that don't share my tastes are into different music, less music, or no music. The best song in Ultima IX, can't recall the name, but it had flutes. This one just has a really memorable melody, there are many decent and good songs in the SotA soundtrack, but some simply lack a memorable melody.

Nope, it's not on that list of 81 songs.

    It's like it never existed.

If it was lost, somehow fell through the cracks, that's a shame.

If it was rejected, that would be even a bigger shame.

Being the best song in the game and all, my opinion only of course, but I went out of my way to track down my best recording of it on my videos and I only recorded like 1/3 of it.

To my knowledge, every song that Portalarium requested was filled by a community musician. I'm reasonably confident that song is a stock track that Portalarium got from somewhere early on. I'll keep researching for you, but I'm pretty sure that song didn't come from our community musicians. (I could be wrong though...)

Ok thanks for looking. Well, it probably is stock music, so hard to track. I just wanted to use the full length of the song in higher quality for a SotA video, but I'll have to choose a different song, thanks again.

I've always liked this song for the overview map. Too bad they changed it. :(

Nice work, Alexander!!! Now I know why it wasn't in the Poets' Circle playlist - Faustino (Tinottt) had intended this to be the "travel music" track but another (also great) track was submitted and accepted for that slot.

I added Faustino's track to the playlist for posterity. It's a lovely track.

If you like that one, you'll like this as well...

tinott is IMHO the best artist featured in sota sound tracks..
