Ok, I b asked the game on Kickstarter and have just now had time to get some time in. Right off the bat a few issues that one would think would Beverly easy to implement by MMO standards today: 1.) No mounts? The Monty Python coconut gallop thing is funny and all but seriously this is laughable to not be in game yet. 2.). What is with the "card deck" combat system? This reeks of someone trying too hard to make the game different than other MMO's - well, different does not always mean better. In this case, I guarantee if they do not remove this that this game will TANK hard within weeks of official release. There is no point in this system. It is not fun at all - it just takes something that should be easy and makes it annoyingly hard. 3.). Road signs and map info in un-translate able fancy letters ? I played all the other Ultimate games growing up and yes this was in those as well. And you know what? It's still just as much a pain in the butt as it was back then. Another case of let's take something that should be simple and make it way too complex. I hope they change this before the official release. 4.). I can play a game with just average graphics but ---- the character models in the game are terrible. Enough said it speaks for itself. Fix the "hey we have to be different because we are a MMO" mentality and this game could do well on release. If not, everyone that buys it will be like WTF is this we are back in the 80's now? A vorpal bunny with nasty big pointy teeth would be a great Easter egg to have in the game. Is there an area called Caerbannog in the game yet? And are there hand grenades?
Hi CapNAhab, YARRRRRRR!!!! (Sorry, I had to get that out of my system ) The best way to learn the runic alphabet used in SotA is to play some of the older Ultima games! Play Ultima 6 through U7 part 2. You will learn the runic alphabet real quick. It's just a letter substitution. Also look at Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 as well because those games use that character set as well. You bring up some interesting points but it's also important to remember (and I have to tell this to myself all the time) that the product is still being developed. Who knows what the future will bring? In the meantime I'm going to be spending a lot of time getting myself up to date on the many changes that have taken place since I last logged in which was like early 2014. Cheers! Thag.

Good morning everyone. A few friends and I just purchased Shrouds of the Avatar to look forward to the robust world on the heels of Ultima. One major thing that has us drawn to this game is the role play potential with the local chat, emotes, and community. I am trying to find some lead or forum post for role players or guidance to other groups that also role play. Can anyone provide me some insight or direction as to where I might find the other role players within SotA? Thanks in advance, really looking forward to playing with everyone.
Guidance on RP isn't really its forte but RPOTA.COM is a great story sharing website (though sharing them in game via the in-game book systems is going to be superb and the premier method! As for a list of RP guilds - Try out SotAWiki for a starting list.
