Soltown Fire Quest... Bugs 2

I have received all the clues... Raymond, Jeane, Martin and Harry confessed.... Stanley will not complete the quest.

 

Tell Stanley "Harry set the fire" or "Martin set up the attacks" depending on which NPC you wish to implicate. (Keywords are their names.)

 

The responses I keep getting are...

Harry the guard....... (Paragraph) same as befor nothing about the fire

Or

Martin is a merchant here.

 

saying
"Martin set up the attacks"
gives
"Martin is a merchant here."
so you have a duplicate which overrides the new info.
You probably need one of the input responses where the NPC ask a question, or you need to have that hint text which starts with "I need to decide..." list explicitly what to say if we want to go each way.
Right now as the texts go the natural thing to write is that of the help texts which would be
Martin is fearmongering, where you could have fearmonger/fearmongering as the key word.

saying
"Harry"
gives
"Harry's [sic] the guard who works during the day. He's been guard here ever since..."etc

saying explicitly
"Harry set the fire"
finishes the quest, and gives the "I'm dissappointed..." speach.


Also, if one doesn't want to tell Stanley about either Martin nor Harry, then one does not get any feeling of completion.
Would work better from the player point of view if that was an actual option of completion, for instance one could have further dialog with Harry where one make the actual Promise not to tell Stanley, with a hint text about implications. Just a thought.

 

I have gotten everything you mentioned.

I've gotten the "I need to decide.." Several times

I have written multiple many different ways long and short including.

Harry the guard has confessed to setting the fire.

Martin the merchant setup Harry the guard with fear mongering to set the fire and drive out the refugees.

I did it on my first character, but subsequent characters it sticks at Stanley completing the storyline.

 

Hmm, one of the guards is involved? That explains why I'm making no progress, as I have to avoid looking at all the guards using this model due to the graphical glitching they cause (Ardoris is a nightmare to visit and Soltown seems to be getting worse).

 

I think this quest breaks if you complete the quest with Raymond before talking to Stanley. I also have the Harry the Guard journal entry and Stanley will not clear that part of the quest.

 

You mean after Raymond tells you to "just let it be" ?

I think it is intentional that you can report your findings to Raymond OR Stanley, but not both.

Yes you can report to Raymond, but the part about reporting to Stanley remains in the journal, so if that part is suppose to clear out of the journal then thats a bug.

 

Raymond doesn't end the storyline with any points, gold or journal change. Somethings missing or wrong.

 

I told Raymond and he gave me some points. It does not clear the current quest cue though. Although the actual journal portion does indicate that I told Raymond that it was Harry who set the fire.

 

now that is really odd....

 

I've spoken to Harry several times, and he doesn't seem to want to confess about the fire. Is there a pre-req that I am missing? I seem to have the quests in my journal that point to him (I have 3 Journal lines from Raymond).

I think you ask a refugee and learn the person had red cloth. Now ask Martin the merchant about refugees and red cloth. He'll point to Harry. Then ask him about fire, red cloth or refugees. One of those topic should work. I don't remember which it was.

 

The journal entry in the current tasks refers to Stanley as Martin's commanding officer, Martin being the merchant, instead of Harry. Also I could not complete the quest to Stanley when using the keywords above.

 

I'll have to try that. I was about to give up on this quest. How are we supposed to divine that we need to ask *Martin the Merchant* about red cloth? Sheesh. LOL! I've gotten pretty good a figuring out key words and following clues, but I have been utterly bested by this...and it's just an opening quest. Wish me luck going forward

PS - Stupid me has been running around Soltown trying to find a red cloth stuck on a bush...LMAO!

 

He is the merchant. He knows who he sold red cloth to.

 

Still unable to turn in the fire quest to Stanley. I have tried the following suggested sentences:
Martin setup the attacks
Martin set up the attacks
Martin setup the fires
Martin set up the fires
Martin setup the fire
Martin set up the fire
Martin is fearmongering(seemed a relevant keyword in the journal entry)
Martin is a fearmongerer
(edited add) Martin urged Harry to start the fire

Each time, I get one of the two responses, "Martin's one of the merchants here." and "A tragedy, that. Those refugees have seen enough pain already. Please, if you find out who is responsible do let me know."

I am careful to mention the keyword "fire" to Stanley before each attempt to turn in this quest, just in case that is required to unlock the correct dialogue but doesn't seem to matter.
