captcha to login, too hard to read !?

Damn it man!, it always takes me 2 to 5 trys to login now, Can't the web guys come up with an easier to use captcha for logging into the site?

 

There's a checkbox that allows you to always stay logged in? That would make it easiest. I can read the captcha fine.

 

I have issues reading the captcha and I think many others are having the same issue. Hopefully they will fix it so that it doesn't take multiple attempts to log in most times.

 

Yeah...I had to refresh the image myself so I could get a readable version. But I also check the stay logged in box for convenience. If you were on a public machine you'd have to leave it unchecked I guess.

 

Yep it's annoying for sure. But certainly less annoying than having the account hacked...

 

I'm not saying to remove the captcha, im just saying, they should make it easier to read,... just making the image bigger would help a lot

J/K It might be good if they could consider swap captcha with Recaptcha or NoCaptcha instead. I think it will be easier for human to pass the test than this non-refreshable obsecure string.

 

Yes, I must be having trouble reading the captcha correctly too, because it always takes me at least three-six tries before I get it right Very frustrating

 

I agree, it takes me a few times because I cannot read the text clearly. Uppercase? Lowercase? Spacing? its a bit confusing at times.

 

I had to refresh the page like 10 times to find one that I can sort of read.

 

Yes they are too hard too read, add in the fact it will some captcha say incorrect randomly even if correct to fool bots. And it can be a bit frustrating. Like others have said, use the remember me check box and you will see it less often.

The main problem is that technology has evolved to the point where the bots are getting better than people at passing the I'm not a bot tests. So expect life to get difficult for us humans the next few years.

The strange thing about captha is it encourages people to use weak passwords because they have to type them over and over again. I highly recommend the use of LastPass to prevent the urge of using weak passwords.

When the posts about captcha being difficult to read exceed the posts from spammers, then it clearly is working as intended. It would not be working if nobody complained and the forum was full of spammers. Your one-time annoyance is a minor pain compared to the continued annoyance to everyone by spammers, or worse having your account stolen by a password cracker bot. Just stay logged into the forum and relish in the fact that you just passed a humanity test.

 

The first couple times I blew right through the captcha, no problem.

The past couple times? I was about to throw my keyboard through my monitor before magically getting past it.

 

Hitting 50 in December. That Captcha is pretty hard to see most of the time. Too small, and yes I have my bifocals on ! ;oP

 

i always use lowercase and no spacing. works fine.

 

let me be more specific, just make it bigger! like this:

 

The captcha is awful, my Telethon purchases almost failed due to this frustration. (My second account login needed 8 attempts to overcome this blockade!)
Always stay logged in does not help if you use more than one account. Also it is dangerous, since it stores the password. There are (sometimes very useful) 3rd party tools such as iepv which can read the stored passwords for Internet Explorer for the logged in user with local access, so each malware running in user context could easily do the same undiscovered and send them all together to their master.
And then there does no Captcha help, it makes it only harder for entitled users.
