I read through the latest couple of patch notes hoping to see a fix to the spear. It makes me sad that I've put all of my experience points into raising polearm and Offhand attack and associated skills so that I could duel wield spears only to find that spears does not target two creatures as the description states. Why not fix the weapons in the game instead of spending time fixing things like. . breathe fire emotes? I don't see how this bug has persisted through 2 releases without a fix. I know I'm crying because this is something that probably only effects me because I decided to build my character this way. I would just really be happy if I could damage more than one creature at a time with my spears. Sorry for my tears. .

Your tears are welcome! By that, I mean this bug should have been fixed a long time ago. Very little excuse to neglect a bug like this IMHO. AND after final wipe! Very bad. I hope they take notice, and fix this very basic issue. I would be very upset too.

Roycestein Kaelstrom. Yes. I reported it last release in the bug section. Did the same this release as well. Both times Attenwood acknowledged the bug entry..but alas. Here we still are.

 

Very interesting. That explains a lot about the performance of my Halberd, that I couldn't figure out.

 

Does this affect two handed pole arm as well? I haven't played with polearm for awhile.

 

I'm am not sure If It effects two handed polearm weps or not. I used my vandul polearm for a very short time..Just long enough for me craft two spears but if the same issue was there.. I didn't realize it.

 

I just started dumping XP into swords to prove that bludgeon is still messed up after 2 releases (reported). Maybe a big inclusive fix is coming. Fingers crossed.

 

Main hand and offhand? or just the offhand attacks?
Edit: two hand hits at least 3, probably 4. It's hard to tell with the jumping damage if it is hitting all 4.

Some skills land on multiple enemies with 2HS as long as you have no focus target set

Multi-hit still seems extremely buggy. Would be nice to see the core bugs dealt with soon, before any minor additions or 'rebalancing'

 

Since melee-combat all in all isn't that smooth (at least to me) I'm pretty sure it will get some love in the future, too... I havn''t tried polearms yet. My little white witch is only waving her puny little wand right now, since swords doesn't work that good for me either.

 

I can see how a 2 hand halberd would hit more than one creature. A halberd is usually swung from up down in a sweeping motion. Now a spear is literally trusted forward and not swung in front of you. A halberd is kind of like an Axe at the end of a long stick vs a pointy spear. If you swing a point it may cut just not very deep compared to the damage a halberd would.

We are still looking at this bug. We are unable to reproduce it internally. See the screenshot here of a battle spear hitting two targets:

I think the problem manifests itself when you wield TWO spears, one per hand, mixing and matching the polearm skills with the dual wield setup.

 

I looked high and low for something historical that would account a viable fighting style with 2 spears. The only thing I came up with are the Zulu tribe where one spear is used to throw and other to melee.

I think this is why it may not be working for you. It probably wasn't intended to be dual wield. You would have to be incredibly strong to wield spears efficiently especially your wrist!
