If the grassy part was smooth and mossy instead of tufts of weeds, I think it would look just fine.

And make it a peaked roof not a flat roof. Thatch would do the trick, nice and naturally flawed (soft not sharp edges).

    Elves....elves designed it.

They're not the brightest lanterns in the tavern, let's be honest.

My biggest criticism of it would be that they look a bit too much like boxes -- boxes with piles of dirt on top -- not so much the exact nature of the roofing.

i think that the front looks good. i think that the roof looks decent.

but they do not go together well at all... its 2 clashing styles that dont feel organic when they merge.

That's how I see it too, although I'll add that the roof looks incomplete... perhaps if there were more branches, or none at all. Like the SC Airship that's out... for the most part I really like it but there's a spot in the front that looks a bit of a mishmash (underside of the bridge where the superstructure meets the hull).

When I saw this set in the forest template, it blended it and seemed to fit well.
Personally, I like it. But to each their own :)

I like the concept, but the dead branches/logs on the roof and chimney jutting out from the foliage seem out of place to me. That plus the porch looks shabby compared to the rest of the building.

If you look at the Elven Village home the little staircase is green and blends well, but it also has some problems - namely the dead branch jutting out of the roof and the bland, hay color roof.

    Suggestions for an overhaul:

    1. The row house might look better if the porch was made to look like the one in this picture, ie, green like the window and door frames.

    2. If the green beams and *hooks* were added around the top of the roof of the row house, similar to what you see below, then the home wouldn't look so boxy.

2a. Add crossbeams to the top of the row house similar to what you see in the village house. Just a diagonal beam to each side of the second floor wall will also reduce the boxy look.

    3. Another thing - those beams supporting the porch could use ivy or garlands wrapping around them. At the very least, color them green like the posts supporting the stairs in the above picture.

    4. Finally, on all the Elven houses, stop with the dead branches! Put some life up there...lol.

4a. (For the village homes, the roof needs better texture IMO.)

---> Bottom line - provide better continuity to the overall look of the Elven buildings and make the thatch roofs less bland looking.

Agreed, it appears this residence doubles as a compost box. :p It seems that the paint along the trim doesn't match the shade of grass atop the home either, which eschews just about the last hope for aesthetic continuity.

Dead branches could look really nice if they followed the contours of the home. Unfortunately in the given example, they just jut out from the center off the roof's edge with nothing clearly holding them in place- one badly thrown piece of flint and you'd earn a campfire merit badge nice and quick, or at least an arson badge. :D

Glad you didn't pick on those poor NPCs with boarded up homes in Kingsport.

It's the PTSD from being transformed into elf by the Obsidian Cabal. The elves in Novia are nothing like Legolas and his crew.

I like it a lot. If it were unbundled, I would consider it. If it were craftable, I'd definitely be working towards it. What I really like is that it has the best balcony of any of the row houses.

It's almost like they were building a home from scratch and ran out of money. "Well what do we have lying around that we can use"?

Since these elf's are obsidian created, their homes should reflect this. As they are not actually wood elves the theme is awry. This would be more suited for the Gnome or goblin race. Throw in a rascally old hermit and it would be the perfect home for them.:p
