Not sure I want an account attached to steam. You can't sell it I guess I could use it to let friends try out the game.

You can still run it via the regular client though to make multi-boxing possible (as you can't run multiple steam clients at the same time).

You could always just give them the entire steam account.

You can also buy them as gifts, which can then be transferred to other Steam accounts. That's how I bought a couple for friends and family (although they all use Steam; someone who doesn't would need to create a steam account for you to transfer it to).

Interesting. Every time I've tried to log in with a second steam account it signs me out of the one I'm currently in. I'll have to try again.

Yes, that's working as design.. What you need to do is to sign up with SotA account that will link your new steam account, then do the sign in using sota credential instead of Steam.

So SotA isn't even released yet and it's already cheaper than the lowest KS pledge that included it? Can't say that's encouraging.

It's just a flash sell until Nov 1st. If you want extra accounts for whatever reason or want to bring new friends to try the game, then this is a good time to do so.

Just steam marketing. They use the numbers on a quick sale window to gauge interest and/or promotion for later. If on sale multiple times *after* release, then that is a bad sign (like Ashes of the Singularity).

Prices being cut on Steam is normal regardless of the age of the game. Even brand new games get discounts during Steam sales. It's what Steam is known for.

He blessed me with 17 full games for just over $200 (USD) last Christmas sale. 3 of which were relatively new releases.

Just bought a second copy to gift to my son this Christmas. At $20 I figured it's worth it. Maybe I'll give him half a floor in my 4-story row house to call his own.

Yeah... but the price drop has to be agreed to by the publisher. Steam doesn't just drop prices and take the hit itself, or send less money to the publisher and say, "Sorry dudes! We decided to sell your stuff cheap..."

@Burzmali was making a good point, IMHO. It is pretty bad looking that SotA isn't even released yet -- as everyone LOVES pointing out, ad infinitum -- and it's already cheaper than the lowest KS pledge that included it.

In this situation, Steam is the publisher. And yes, I think that's exactly how it works.

So you're saying that Steam can affect public perceptions of someone's software by flogging it cheap without their permission? I just don't see that being the case at all.

And Steam ISN'T the publisher. It cites the publisher of each game within each listing. Steam is a conduit... a carriage service... whatever you like. But not SotA's publisher.

Don't forget that if ou backed via kickstarter you get _all_ future episodes, with steam only Ep1 so I think backers still get a very nice deal.
