Obsidian potions of expedience

Not able to back this up with 1000's of data points but it does not seem that the potions of expedience boost harvest time by 40%.. with prosperity tools I seem to be only getting between 10 and 20 % ... Is this observed by anyone else? Any anecdotal evidence from someone else?

Are these currently not working properly or do I not understand the mechanics? Am I wasting coto's?

I wondered this as well but I have no numbers to back it up.

All I can say is that it doesn't seem like it was boosted much.

 

I agree, it doesn't feel like much but I have no numbers. I can take some in 2 days

 

The effect is +40% swift gathering, so it doesn't modify your harvest time directly. It only modifies your swift gathering bonus and will vary based on your swift gathering level.

edit: It's also not cumulative. In other words, it won't raise your bonus from 20% to 60%, but instead 20% to 28% (I think).

 

So at swift gathering 89, which is +17.8% I should expect a +7.12% bonus?

Hm, the tooltip on the potions states "+40% XYZ gathering time" and not "+X% swift gathering time" - I am not sure how to read that. I hope someone can clarify?

 

Sorry, I am not in game right now and was just going by what it said on sotawiki, so that might have been inaccurate. In any case, I'm pretty sure it is just a modifier to some kind of gathering speed bonus and not meant to be a 40% reduction in base gathering time. Maybe looking at /stats output would clear it up.

 

Stats says my "ForestryGatheringTimeModifier" is 0.678 - that is probably 40%+my swift skill bonus of 17.8. (+prosp tools 10%)
My guess would be it just feels slower than it really is I'm gonna time it as soion as my potion wears off
