Hrmmm... you seem to not be well versed in Ultima lore... Ultima I had spacships... The original concept art for Shroud of the Avatar was Steam/Clockpunk... The plans for UO2 were decidedly Steampunk...

I didn't know that Shroud of the Avatar had to conform to everything done in all Ultima games.

It doesn't even look that big in the actual game.

That perspective certainly doesn't look as bad.

Personally, I like diversity and it's cooked right into New Brittania big time. The overall context is obviously science fiction in scope, but Novia is not advanced in a lot of ways.

It doesn't... but the point being that none of the Ultimas have been straight medieval high fantasy... There have always been Science Fiction and (later) Steampunk influences and element.

Consider how elves, fauns and satyr were made, I would say they are very advanced.

Id be happy with RG being able to explain core aspects of the game during a post mortem, like the economy, without the other creators looking at him cluelessly. Or outright arguing with him on things that should have been decided years ago.

The screenshot i agree looks bad. And i agree, over sized weapons that just dont make sense, seems to go against the current feel of the *realistic* part of the game. But in game it doesnt look too outa place size wise luckily.

The tech itself doesnt seem so outa place considering we have un meltable snow and air ships tho lol.

I do prefer if items looks realistic as if they could be functional (given this worlds natural laws)
No extreme things like Wow's shoulders and weapons

I'm not really seeing the diversity, out of 7 other members in a party, there was pretty much only two archetypes winged gown wearers and spiky bit wearers. People buying the stuff needed to turn themselves into technicolor nightmares pays the bills I suppose, though it just adds to the generic fantasy MMORPG feel that SotA has.

I only played UO up to the infamous wipe of Siege Perilous, but there seemed to be a tradition where some dressed as ridiculously as possible, some were funny as hell really. A guild mate and I were laughing about it this week. One of the things I think Shroud is doing right is enabling a lot of freedom of expression. Let's not get too muggle about it.

I'm not a huge fan of "totally" wielding dual flaming wailing paddles but it did get some of the highest response to date over at the Twitters, just slightly more popular than Relic by Rild's nice beach towel, and sadly... the new quality looking Oracle imagery, presumably a cornerstone of the game. The only Twit that seemingly beat it out recently was that of the update regarding the Solace Bridge Outskirts, and the thorn weaponry. Anyway, point being is that there's a large audience for that I guess, or they just like images with anything on fire.

I guess the measure of a man is the size of his sword? o_O
