    ~Kahli~
    The Ancient City of Legends
    (RP-PvP)

The ancient city of Kahli was lost to the world during the Fall. Many centuries have spanned since its horrible demise. What became of its peoples, temples, stories and lore? Only recent whispers from a mysterious sorcerer bring hints of this locale’s vibrant history. In the years since The Fall, the territory became a place of peril, one which harbors only the bravest of souls or those fraught with such depravity, they are shunned elsewhere. Settlers here must prepare themselves for engaging warfare and political betrayal, for your neighbors might not be your friends, and your friends might be too distant to render aid.

Many free rental rooms await claiming by individuals! Numerous outposts abound and await claiming by guilds or guilds-t0-be! Dozens upon dozens of properties are available for open, unreserved claiming! An entire underworld town lies beneath Kahli, affording those wishing to settle there the ability to choose exactly where their home should be placed!

Will Kahli's people band together to fight against raiders from beyond their borders? Will the outpost guilds make war or peace amongst themselves? Will the Virtues hold any sway within this land of strife? Only time will tell.

    Angler's Hook
    A Fishing Role-Playing Community
(Claimed by Pax et Fortitudo / PaxLair Alliance, 8 Row Lots)

The call of the Shimmering Lake has attracted these proud fishermen to Kahli. With waters most bountiful, the lake provides these skilled anglers robust opportunities for their craft. Would you like to join the members of Pax et Fortitudo or the greater PaxLair Alliance in their fishing endeavors? If so, bait your hooks, friends, for the waters and fine fishing companions await! Contact @Erich Ruhl for more information.

    Boreus Village
    A Well-Defended Trading Role-Playing Community
(Claimed by @Adam Crow, 4 Village, 12 Row Lots)

A place of beauty, for sure, with Boreus standing stoic, overlooking the majestic Shimmering Lake, but to claim this village presents considerable risk. Central to many nearby settlements, could these villagers one day face a war upon all fronts? Fortunately, Boreus Village is a considerably defensible village featuring 12 Row Lots, 4 Village Lots, and some castle wall reinforcements. Making their home here are Gerald and Kendra Higglesbottom, a decorations and crafting merchant, and are oft seen nearby whilst paying homage to the likeness of Boreus. Quill and ink awaits you, oh village leader! Scribe the tale of this land, and weave your grand vision into Kahli’s rich history. Contact @Adam Crow for more information.

    Dragon Bone Hill
A Dragon Lore Centric Role-Playing Community

(Unclaimed by Guild, 1 Village, 14 Row Lots)
The lore of Kahli is amuck with mention of giant scaled beasts known as Dragons. This unsettled outpost once likely was a stronghold for either dragon worshipers, riders or perhaps even tamers. Within, there is a giant statue of a dragon, staring menacingly towards its gates to warn any that enter, should they cause harm to these peoples, surely the wrath of a dragon would befall them. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Gardeners of Kahli
    A Mercenary & Farming Role-Playing Community.
(Claimed by The Gardeners of Kahli, 1 Village, 9 Row Lots)

The Gardeners of Kahli were originally simple planters - farmers who learned quickly that there were those who would rather not grow things but take them, and destroy what they could not carry. They created a small compound where they could unite in common defense as well as support those who wished to help grow the things that their families in other compounds would need to survive. Though more farmer than warrior, more hunter than fighter; they continue to strive for honor - their Devotional just outside their compound exemplifies this.

They maintain their way of life, not only by farming, but by hiring out to honorable folk, to defend those who wish to harm others, and to provide security, of sorts, to gatherings held in Kahli at the tavern, as well as keeping the wolves and bears away from other peaceful compounds. They are very good at that, for the tales of anyone even seeing a predator were quite old, and often embellished. The tales were handy for keeping the children home at night as well.

The Gardeners are located inside a walled compound with a Greenhouse and Fountain. It is located to the Northeast between the devotionals Honor and Valor. (RP-PvP, Crafting) Available as Mercenary/Guard for events. Contact Ordezko at the1crandall@gmail.com for more information.

    Gluttony Tavern Apartments
A Traveler and New Arrivals Role-Playing Community

(Claimed by the Old Man of Kahli, @Elgarion and @Andartianna)

The tavern appartments oft are visited by outsiders from town seeking temporary lodging, but also some choose to prolong their stay. Their reasons, unknown. Perhaps if one were to sit aside these travelers at the tavern, one could ascertain this. Take caution, however, for who knows what the goals are of those coming to Kahli. Could they be here to lift your purse? Perhaps to take your life? Or perhaps they are soon to be life long friends. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

Just next door to the apartments is the Courthouse of Kahli run by a traveling group of magistrates intent upon providing law and order to small remote areas such as Kahli. If you have a legal case to persue or perhaps you'd like to inquire about magistrate openings and lodging for magistrates, contact @Andartianna for more information.

    Gluttony Tavern & Stables
    A Tavern & Stable Worker Role-Playing Community
    (4 Free Village Basement Rooms)

This tavern and stables combo is a place mirth and relaxation in an otherwise dark territory of warfare and strife. Perhaps this is the meeting place for dispute settlement? Could there be truce here? Would everyone abide by this truce? Only time will tell. Will an enterprising innkeeper set up shop in Kahli, bringing their shrewd business sense and tales from afar? Or might they be after your coin, and water down their drinks like the swindlers they are... Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Horsemen of the Vale
A Role-Playing Community of Warrior Clan Horse Riders*
(Unclaimed by Guild, 2 Village, 21 Row Lots)

Albeit it has been centuries since man rode upon beast, an art long lost to the peoples of New Britannia, the Horsemen of the Vale remember their heritage and hope, to one day, to ride again into battle as their forefathers had, striking down their enemies with lance, blade and hoof. Will your guild claim this outpost featuring 21 Row Lots and 2 Village Lots, readying their peoples for a time of mounted warfare and exploration? Rest assured, oh Avatars, man will once again ride upon the beasts of the Vale. *Name of outpost and theme for outpost is negotiable. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Helboer
    An Norse Themed Role-Playing Community
(Claimed by @Helvig Ingvildsdottir, 6 Village, 10 Row Lots)

A group of people who seem inspired by norse culture and viking design have recently started renovating a long abandoned and run-down farming village surrounded by defensive walls and towers. In addition to several homes, the settlement sports a community farm, a bathhouse with sweat lodge, and a meadhall that is open to the public. These people are passionate about their freedom and independence, and follow no leader. It seems currently their spokesperson is a rune priestess that supposedly origins from early medieval Scandinavia. Contact @Helvig Ingvildsdottir for more information.

    Magi of Kahli
A Role-Playing Community of Reclusive Magi*
(Unclaimed by Guild, 13 Row Lots)

Many knock upon the gates of the Magi of Kahli settlement, but unless your interests are magical in nature, it is unlikely one would garner a response from those within. The secrets of these Magi run deep, and the mystery of their origins even deeper. Dare you attempt to lay assault to these powerful spell singers? Good luck in that endeavor, for their walls are strong, and the power of their spells are indomitable. *Name of outpost and theme for outpost is negotiable. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Oracular Rise
A Role-Playing Community of Oracle Devotees and Worshippers
(Unclaimed by Guild, 1 Town, 20 Row Lots)

Certainly those wishing to seek counsel with The Oracle must tread here, but will the lords that reside over this small plateau be welcoming to outsiders? How might they represent The Oracle’s desires as residents of the Confirmatory’s plateau? Will they take the wise guidance of The Oracle gently to others within Kahli, or will they interpret The Oracle’s soothsaying as justifications for war and strife within this already beleaguered town? Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Sequanna Parish
    An Open Themed Role-Playing Community
(Open Housing, 1 City, 1 Town, 5 Village, 72 Row Lots)

The largest of settlements and probably the least defensible. Could there be a single guild willing to unify this immense village? Overlooking the Altar of Sacrifice, this parish offers much housing and opportunities for building a community. With 1 City Lot, 1 Town Lot, 5 Village Lots, and 72 Row Lots, what Lords and Ladies might attempt to claim this territory and spawn their own civilization within the ruins of Kahli? This village offers 4 vendors: a magic vendor, and the Eagleton sisters (Juliana the Banker, Talia the Cooking Merchant, Jessica the Crafting Merchant). And within the center of the parish, looking upon the city lot, is the Statue of Sequanna. Will her gaze upon the lord or lady who inhabits this home influence them to lead this territory with virtue? Will love ensue upon this place of potential light within the otherwise darkened land? Or will this lord look down upon the Altar of Sacrifice with a devilish grin instead, and rule their territory with cruelty and tyranny? Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Shanty Town
    An Open Themed Role-Playing Community
    (Open Housing, 35 Row Lots)

Could there be peace within this tunnel like array of Row Houses? With no larger lot, this location does not lend itself well to be ruled, but perhaps there will be Order when one most suspects Chaos? Holding 35 Row Lots, this location certainly offers a shady location to inhabit. With difficult to find alleyways concealing Sid the Black Market Dealer (Weapon Merchant), there is little to rely upon here other than your neighbor and your wits. Tread carefully friends, for here you might find the most vile... or perhaps the most forgotten. Can you bring this territory to greatness? Could Shanty Town ally itself with The Southern Watch, which overlooks it nearby? Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Southern Watch
A Role-Playing Community of House Serenite
(Claimed by House Serenite, 1 Village, 5 Row Lots)

A small walled location atop an only slightly larger plateau, The Southern Watch contains 3 vendors (Decorations, Pet and Banker) and a single access point. With 5 Row Lots and a Village lot, only a small group can lay claim to this location -- but can they keep it? For its mountain views and highly defensible features will be highly sought after. So very recently, whispers amongst the local tavern patrons have hinted upon the new residents of the Southern Watch. It seems caravans have arrived, and sounds of construction atop the hill of The Watch can be heard echoing throughout all of Kahli. Raise high above the towers, flowing defiantly in the wind, are the gold and crimson banners of House Serenite. Contact @Duke William of Serenite for more information.

    Stargazers of Kahli
    A Role-Playing Community of Astronomers & Astrologers
(Unclaimed by Guild, 1 Village, 9 Row Lots)

The heavens above speak to the world below in a subtle yet premonitory voice, twisting our fates into a web of their design. Many believe that each star, each planet reveals our futures through their elusive patterns and foretelling alignments. Does your guild look to the stars for guidance? Even the Cabalists take great value from what the skies say to us. Featuring 1 Village Lot, 9 Row Lots and a grand village sized orrery, a guild intrigued by the constellations above would find a good home here. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Syvlan Outpost
    An Elf Themed Role-Playing Community*
(Unclaimed by Guild, 1 Village, 13 Row Lots)

This small outpost is dedicated for those wishing to role-play as elves. Could this outpost be of the Vertas elf variety? Friendly to man, saddened by the great calamity at Blood River? Or could this outpost be claimed by those loyal to the Obsidian resurgence in New Britannia, bowing to the Cabalists as they lay siege to our cities? Only you could say, Avatar! *Name of outpost and theme for outpost is negotiable. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Temple of the Four
An Ancient Cemetery Honoring the End of the Obsidian Reign
(Claimed by Lord Kala Sharee and the Obsidian Remnant Role-Players)

The inhabitants of Kahli’s varied greatly after The Fall. Remnants of the Obsidian Empire even exist here, Hidden within the Vale, and through the centuries since, some of these Obsidian structures were repurposed, as was the Obsidian Keep at the now named--Temple of the Four. Now adjoining the keep, lay an array of honored dead, each resting under the forest shade and the gentle gaze of three Oracle guardians. But what tales await us of the Four... of the Forty Four?Is there a tie between the remnants of the Obsidian Empire and these fallen? To what purpose could the Oracle’s likeness have been constructed to watch over these fallen? Why does the Fourth look separately upon the Fallen, set away from the Three? And most importantly, what stories of heroism might these souls harbor, and if one could speak to the dead, what wonders might one learn from the ancient past? Much of what has transpired within the borders of Kahli since the Fall can be learned at this Temple, but much of these ancient runic writings have yet to be recovered and translated. Are you a scholar hoping to unearth the teachings hidden within these scripts? Or perhaps you hope for finding ancient artifacts and treasure. Whatever your motivations, always remember, brave Avatars, that the Oracle watches you closely! Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    The Obsidian Remnant
A Role-Playing Community of Obsidian Devotees
(Claimed by Lord Kala Sharee and the Obsidian Remnant Role-Players)

A remnant faction of the Obsidian Empire has returned to Kahli. To what purpose? By all indications, these dark beings loom in their towers above and have shown little interest in what transpires in the valley below. What plans are they forging? Are those of Kahli in danger, as they were so many years ago when the Obsidians of old twisted common townsfolk to their wicked Fomorian armies? Can these mysterious Obsidians be trusted? Bartered with? Counted upon when raiders come from beyond the borders of Kahli? That cannot be certain. Who amongst the peoples of Kahli will be the first to broker an alliance with these questionable neighbors? Who amongst them will be the first to declare war upon them? Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    The Wizard's Grove
A Role-Playing Community of Librarians, Magi and Lore Seekers
(Claimed by the Old Man of Kahli, @Elgarion)

Elgarion has chosen a quiet life for himself, nesting into a quaint tree home near the western border of Kahli. Beneath this druid tree, lies an expansive basement. On its first floor is a grand library, featuring all the lore and knowledge he has been able to acquire. It is believed the wizard also allows those of like mind and interests to inhabit the various rooms beneath the library. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Westreach Outpost
    A Role-Playing Community of Spies & Negotiators*
(Unclaimed by Guild, 8 Row Lots)

What civilization is complete without its spies, diplomats, and negotiators? People accustomed to barter and agreement? Those cunning in the ways of espionage? Few societies can thrive without such talents. If ye seek a specialist in these regards? Contact those within the walls of Westreach. But take caution, Outlanders, for when one strikes a deal with those so privy to clandestine information, perhaps mere exposure to such folk puts your secrets at risk! *Name of outpost and theme for outpost is negotiable. Contact @Elgarion for more information.

    Windsinger's Mill
    A Role-Playing Community of Craftsmen & Millers
(Claimed by the Old Man of Kahli, @Elgarion)

A name of old. The Windsingers. Lady Eora Windsinger of Kahli has lived within its borders her entire life. The lady's bloodline can be traced back to the early ages of Kahli's ancient history, and she believes she is the last of her line. Once, her kin rode upon the dragon friends of Kahli as valiant knights and protectors of the Vale. But since the Fall, Kahli's kinship with dragons perished with its peoples, and the last dragon of Kahli died away during the Age of Survival centuries ago. Eventually, her line shed their armor to adorn the garb of tradesmen. And her? She is but a miller, speaking oft of her heritage, dreaming of a day when man and dragon will once again take to the skies together. Would you like to join in her endeavors? Crafting, milling and trade? Free rooms are available that seek to aid her! Contact @Elgarion for more information.

Outline of All Things Kahli and More...

Elgarion's Lore for Kahli (in Chronological Sequence):
    • ”The Founding of Kahli” - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
This work describes the original founding of Kahli so many centuries ago in New Britannia's ancient past. Elgarion was not alive back then, but it reveals the origins of Kahli itself and provides almost a near pre-historic feel to the lore of Kahli's founding.

    • "The Golden Age of Kahli" - Storyline by Elgarion
In times of old, the city of Kahli flourished -- a pinnacle of prosperity amongst the cities of the Vale. This tale of Kahli's wondrous past serves as a stark reminder of what was lost. But even during this age of virtue and peace, the first seed of evil was planted within Kahli's soils by Larmenius, the jealous deity of the Seven. (This story is currently in design -- 3 chapters are already published with several more to come before completion).

    • "The Corruption of Kala-Sharee" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Through the centuries, and as Kahli's Golden Age faded from memory, the dark influences of Larmenius cast much shadow upon the land. The diety Artenius grew arrogant, perhaps complacent and left his proudest achievement to its own devices, believing Kahli to be his most perfect creation and untouchable by evil or even chaos. Larmenius relished in knowing his foothold grew stronger within the realm, and turned his evil gaze towards the malleable mind of Kala-Sharee, Elgarion's grandson.

    • "The Alliance of the Untrusting" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Larmenius, the Sixth Son of the Original Touch, evil incarnate, the seed of darkness in the minds of men, had won his prize -- the corruption of the young sorcerer, Kala-Sharee. Larmenius' dastardly plan begins to unfold just as Kala-Sharee also secretly plots a different outcome, one which not only consists of betraying all of Kahli but also his dark mentor, Larmenius.

    • The Conclave of the Arrogant" -- Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Kala-Sharee's and Larmenius' sinister ploys thicken as the wizards of Kahli learn of the impending doom of New Britannia, a foreseen cataclysm to later be known as The Fall. The deities of the Weeping Seven show themselves to offer a solution. Even whilst Larmenius plays the part of benefactor alongside his brethren, the dark one whispers contrasting ideas into the supple minds of the Elders, appealing much to their arrogance and love for their land. The Elders, now convinced their own powers can save Kahli, disregard the guidance of the Seven, much to Artenius' dismay, and decide to prepare a grand spell of epic proportions -- a spell which would harness the energies of a Lunar Rift. As planned, Larmenius and Kala-Sharee plot to taint the spell to their purpose, each intent upon a different outcome, but even as their divisive nature becomes apparent to each other, their untrusting alliance continues.

    • ”The Destruction of Kahli” - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
Kahli meets its ultimate demise during the Fall when so many other civilizations also ended. Elgarion and the people of Kahli are betrayed by Elgarion's grandson, Kala-Sharee. Elgarion and his people are then pulled into the nether between worlds as the grand spell to save Kahli fails. Kahli and its peoples become trapped in Larmenius' prison and what Elgarion later calls, The Void.

    • "When Paths Diverge" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Larmenius and Kala-Sharee meet approximately one year after their sinister alliance which lead to the destruction of Kahli. During this year, Kala-Sharee learns that he too was betrayed, but by Larmenius. When Larmenius finally reappears before Kala-Sharee to gloat, the others of the Seven also reveal themselves to confirm their beliefs that Larmenius had caused the fall of Kahli. The six voice their frustrations with their brother, especially Artenius, then disperse, leaving Larmenius to gloat further with his former pupil, Kala-Sharee. After Kala-Sharee's anger and persistent begging, Larmenius merely laughs and walks away, leaving Kala-Sharee to endure his "reward" for all of eternity.

    • "The Dark Age of Kahli" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Two centuries after The Fall, where Kahli once stood, new communities and outposts sprout, all of which eventually come to be ruled by the Obsidian Empire. Albeit this faction of the Obsidians is a secretive off-shoot of the foul cabalist sorcerers, led by Kala-Sharee, it is no surprise that their imposition of Order throughout the nearby outposts resulted in horrific tales of magical experimentation and cruel enslavement. Will Virtue's tiniest of sparks within such a dark time lead to the downfall of this mighty of empires, one could only dream of such revelations.

    • "The Four, The Forty Four" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Near the Obsidian Empire's downfall, even the Obsidian presence in Kahli felt the strains of uprising. Four Obsidian soldiers and Forty-Four villagers, known as The Four and the Forty-Four, could tolerate the depravity of Kala-Sharee the tyrant no longer. Although these brave souls gave their lives to end the Obsidian reign in these lands, their legend lives on, and if one were to visit the Temple of the Four, one could learn of their wondrous tale of virtue.

    • "The Punishment of Kahli" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Trapped within Larmenius' prison for centuries, this tale reveals the horrors faced by Elgarion within the dark one's torturous oblivion. Elgarion and his brethren fester in the unrelenting hell whilst Larmenius takes great pleasure in observing their trials and tribulations.

    • "The Void... It Haunt's My Soul..." - Poem by Elgarion
Whilst trapped within The Void, Elgarion became quite insane during the centuries of captivity and sensory deprivation or torturous manipulation of Elgarion's senses by Larmenius, the Sixth Son of the Original Touch. Of many coping mechanisms adopted by his disheveled form, one was to ramble this poem repeatedly in soft mumbled tones.

    • "The Trap is Sprung" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion (Coming Soon!)
Centuries after the Fall, Artenius the Seventh Son of the Original Touch, finally sensing the suffering of the Kahlimites trapped within The Void, discovers what truly happened to Kahli -- that its ancient peoples yet live. Artenius turns to his brothers and implores they provide aid to save the peoples of Kahli. A rift between the two dimensions opens, and Artenius steps into the Void with his brethren to confront Larmenius. Much to their horror, upon entering, the rift shutters, only giving Artenius ample time to cast Elgarion out from the prison. The six brothers of Larmenius are ensared within The Void along with the remaining tortured souls of Kahli. After much gloating, Larmenius emerges from The Void. Somewhere in New Britannia, the Dark One stands before Elgarion's twisted and tortured form. Larmenius reminisces upon the "great joys" they had experienced together these past centuries, then leaves Elgarion to rot. Giddy to return to his plane of existence, his dark plans finally complete, Larmenius vanishes into The Void. The brothers of Larmenius, now imprisoned as Elgarion had once been, are to be the Dark One's playthings for all of eternity. Elgarion's breathing slowly fades. His heart beats ever so more slowly. Then a curious shadow casts across Elgarion's face, and from atop a hill, a silhouette of a femine form looks down upon the dying sorcerer. She is the Eighth. The sister, and she saves Elgarion by unusual means, and sets him upon his lifelong quest to reopen the gates leading to The Void, to save his people and to save his beloved patron, Artenius.

    • "The Tavern Respite" - Storyline by Elgarion
The ancient sorcerer Elgarion roams the lands of New Britannia in search of his home. In this slightly lore conflicting prototype documentation of initial role-playing experiences in Shroud of the Avatar, Elgarion continually learns about the lore of other community members, of New Britannia, and begins to portray the planned lore for Kahli. Even though this work best fits here in sequence, please understand that much of what is written isn't necessarily the true lore of Elgarion and Kahli as it was at such an early time for role-play itself in Shroud of the Avatar.

    • ”Kahli Rises from the Ashes” - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
During Elgarion's first travels upon escaping The Void, Elgarion spends many years searching for his long lost homeland. The world, having changed so drastically since he last set foot upon New Britannian soil due to the great cataclysm, the search was most assuredly a difficult one. But, at last, Elgarion rediscovers the place of his birth and subsequent familial betrayal, Kahli.

    • "Trapped Between Bone and a Dark Place" - Journal by Elbyon
Elbyon, the Ranger of Kahli, and one day to be Elgarion's greatest of friends and companions, encounters Kahli for the very first time. Also, Elybon meets the Traveling Merchants at the entrance of Kahli. This intial meeting is the first indication to the modern world of New Britannia that there is something terribly amiss with the "people" within Kahli.

    • "A Humbling and Hasty Departure" - Journal by Elbyon
The adventures of Elbyon the Ranger continue. Having decided to brave the dangers of Kahli, the intrepid woodsman presses forward into the canyon and emerges outward into the opening, facing down the only remaining remnants of Kahli. As the horrific maddening influence of the dark shard at Kahli's entrance begins to dissipate, Elbyon examines the seemingly posed skeletal remains of Kahli with considerable worry. The ranger carefully plots how he will one day escape Kahli, but little does he know that this ancient city has other plans for him entirely.

    • "I Must Remember... to Remember" - Journal by Elgarion
Finally, the old wizard took to quill and ink after many happenings throughout the lands of Kahli. The long absence from regular scrivenings upon his tattered journal will likely cause him much trouble in the future, when he attempts to recollect upon the occurrences which did not make the page. But alas, now the kindly man has the company of friends to assist him in thought, albeit providing abundant opportunity for others to insert their interpretations into his supple and weakening mind.

Character, Faction and Outpost Backgrounds of Kahli:
    • "Dr. Zazeriz" - Character Bio by Andartianna

Helvig was raised in the forest alone by her mother, to be a völva just like her mother was. She is an experienced magic worker. This is to say: medieval earth magic with effects that are based on coincidence, perception and psychic manipulation. One day, in the second year after her mother's death, a young man with a pyromaniac problem showed up at her door and claimed to be the twin brother her mother had left to die after their birth. Less than an hour after he had reveiled this, they both were drawn into New Britannia together, for what purpose they do not know.

    • "The Kahlinburh" - Location Background by Gorthyn

    • "The Kahlinweard" - Faction Background by Gorthyn
"We are the Kahlinweard. Mountain born, oath sworn, strong of arm, loyal of heart. Defenders of the Kahlinburh."

    • "The Void" - Location Background by Sassa Svanhild
Old tales refer to the Void as the beginning of everything and that it existed before the world we know, was born. Some storytellers may refers to the Void as a physical grey shade area in space — that often takes a form chosen by its "wielder" or current denizens. But the commmon thought is that the Void is like a backdrop of pure darkness or celestial atmosphere which has the power to distort, or remove entirely, large parts of space.

    • "Voelund Ildhammar" - Character Bio by Voelund Ildhammar
Voelund is from medieval Earth, viking-time Scandinavia, and supposedly the son of a völva, a viking seeress, that was abandoned in the woods shortly after his birth. There he was found by a blacksmith, who might have been his physical father. The blacksmith raised him to be an extraordinary master of the forge and also a decent warrior. What he could not teach Voelund however was to handle his strange ability to set things afire through the mere power of his mind, willingly or involuntarily. Only hours before Voelund was drawn away from medieval earth into New Britannia did he learn that he was son to a völva and had a twin sister. Together with his assumed sister he started out his adventure in New Britannia.

    • "The Cataclysm, The Birth of Daedalus" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
Learn of the history of The Fall in this epic description of the world's end. As shards from the broken moons rained down upon New Britannia, what became of its peoples and cities?

    • "The Age of Survivial" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
Elgarion brings us a description of the age following The Fall. During the Age of Survival, the peoples of New Britannia took to the underworld for decades until the dust settled and the world could once again be inhabited by man.

    • "The Age of Warring Cities" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
After man's return to the surface, new cities formed, new civilizations were born, and with them? New disagreements, disputes and ultimately, war once again returned to the world. But what could bring order in such a time of utter chaos?

    • "The Age of the Obsidian War" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
With the warring factions of New Britannia wreaking havoc upon the world, it was the Obsidians who seized opportunity amongst the chaos. It was with their cruel hand that Order was restored, but at what cost? Was the darkness they spread, the foul magics they employed a means justified by the end?

    • "The Age of Oracular Enlightenment" - Timeline Entry by Elgarion
This age, an age when the people's of New Britannia would heal from the dark centuries of rule under the strict hand of the Obsidian Empire, was the dawning of The Oracle's presence upon the world. Her guiding hand was accepted by many yet secretly and sometimes openly scorned by others. Does this beloved seer have an agenda unknown to the world? Certainly one must engage in the quest lines of Shroud of the Avatar to learn this answer.

Alrghty, I updated the screenshots and some of the maps above. Got a new perty computer that takes better screenshots and shows off the game in a better light ;) I won't get to updating The Caverns of Kahli screenshots until I get that town upgraded so I can place more deco items to capture in the new art.

Greatly updated -- added a story in the beginning which is now featured as a journal entry at rpota.com. That journal entry will be the first of a series from Elbyon the Ranger of Kahli, who will detail his initial journey through Kahli, describing each location in detail. So much more to come!

    @Elgarion

I am seriously thinking of moving the "Bruderschaft des Grauen Pfades" / "Brotherhood of the Grey Path" to Kahli and claim a Townlot (Lord Founder Town Home)
at Dragonbone Valley or one of the Townlots at the Valley of the three Lords.
But until i have some questions (and not yet traded my actually 3 deeds (pa tf row and 2x tf pot village) to a town deed, but i have offers).

My english isn´t that good to write great stories, it´s maybe enough to have RP ingame on a basic level, maybe this can also be interesting as i play a wizard who use not common speech.

The Brotherhood of the Grey Path is actually just me, we were 2 :p, but my friend is actually too frustrated about the game and inactive and will maybe not come back.
The plan was or is to be something like a super neutral (grey) group of researchers, magicians, explorers, adventurers...
I began or planned to write Books like Wisdom of the Grey Path, Sayings of the Grey Path, Poems of the Grey Path... etc... but in german ofc.
I am willing to try to write those in english too. Helps me maybe to also better translate in further localization team ations and earn me the title of a scribe.

What i want to say is, yes i am willing to RP in english, but this maybe takes time and is not that perfect/ good,
and i´m willing to interact with the english Roleplayers too - ofc.
I´m too willing to be someone who does service to the Mad Wizard and maybe also to use a Room in the Towers Basement to embed and insinuate the "Bruderschaft des Grauen Pfades" To the researches of the crazed Wizard Elgarion :)

    Questions:

    What dou you think overall?
What is your timezone? I´m sitting in Germany UTC+2/+1 for Winter (Oct-Mar)

Whats about Crafting stations? I only have a "normal" Cooking and Alchemy station.

I also have a CF Vendor ready to place somewhere.

Note: I´m just thinking loud and take all options into consideration. Actually since my Friend said he will be oficially inactive i was thinking around what to do.
germanspeaking RP is less, i sure have contacts.

I feel the RP Community maybe need to close ranks and what you are doing Elgarion is one of the biggest things i am aware of until.
Caer Dracwhich is maybe the wrong place for a Seidmenn and Wizards like us - Don´t know much about Dara Brae until.

Lot of text, lot to consider for me and maybe for you as well. Maybe i should take this all to P.M. ?!?

    regards - Stundorn Stureson

p.s. i need help to become stronger if i live in a PVP Pot :p

I would be honored to have you, and Dragon Bone Hill is definitely one of my favorite. Thus far, only 2 of the villages are spoken for by a guild or soon to be guild, so alas, everything but Gardener's Point and the Southern Watch are available. Pick your favorite, I'd say, and the one that you think would be the best match for you going forward. I spent 4 years in Germany, and I must say, it was the best 4 years of my life. Perhaps now, Germans can come live in my "country of Kahli" :p I shall certainly be so very happy to see you and your brethren in our lands. (Sadly, I learned so very little of your language while there. One of my many regrets about my use of time while there).

No worries about this, and if you ever wish to submit German pieces of work at RPOTA.COM, you're more than welcome to post German writings as well. Perhaps we can muster up a translation using software, then have and English writer tweak it for odd translation quirks, then presto, problem solved ;) BUT, I agree, I can't recall how many books or shows I've watched where a language barrier can be a very interesting part of the story. Sometimes even a catalyst for war. A misspoken word... a mispronounced greeting... anything like this could mean war or cause alliances to crumble. Or imagine folks using the language barrier just for a different type of RP interaction? I say let's give it a whirl and see how it goes, certainly!

No worries -- the game hasn't even launched. I'm more than happy to reserve a village for guilds attempting to form. Rome wasn't built in a day ;) I'd love to get my hands on your books eventually. Having copies up in the Library of Kahli would be a very nice addition.

I really thing the language barrier will only add to the flavor of the RP. I would suggest playing off of this barrier, using it in RP. If you didn't understand something, state that in-character -- challenge who are RPing with to role-play as if speaking with someone who primarily speaks a different language. I think it'll work out very well. And yes, you're very welcome in the Tower of the Mad Sorcerer. He likes ale. ;)

Overall? I'd say a big yes. I'm happy to have you. Let me know what village you like best and I'll add you to the permissions of the free row house, which you could then in turn, assign permissions to someone you recruit that is in need of housing ;)

I'm in United States Mountain Time (1 hour behind Austin/NB Time). We likely won't bump into each other except when we're playing on our days off from work ;) No worries though, eventually, all these POT's will be full of people after launch, and hopefully all of them will end up having a nice mix of time zones present. Counting The Caverns of Kahli, that's about 330 lots, and with rooms for rent, it could be 500+ people if it actually fills up. You're bound to have frequent time buddies, not to mention the people from your village ;)

Go into the basement of the Tower of the Mad Sorcerer, then to the room on the right. All the crafting stations are in that room, ready for use :) Once I get more good crafting stations (so far I only have 4 of the... 12? 10?), the top floor of the tavern basement at Gluttony Tavern & Stables will have all the crafting stations as well.

Excellent! And if you need extra vendor space eventually -- let me know. I never fill mine up.

I need to explore other towns. There are so many, I'm sure there are quite a few with excellent designs and very very much more populated than mine. I suggest taking a tour, town by town. IF you end up changing your mind and find a better home -- no worries. That will not bother me. You'll be supporting RP where ever you go, and the game, so good by me ;)

    Either way, I'm good :)

Hahaha... I'm so horrible at PvP. I'm looking more forward to the political intrigue of a pure pvp environment -- let the RP begin ;)

Well its so nice to hear that, but i come to the conclusion i need to be more patient with my own plans and ideas at all.
The PvP is maybe something that hinders me or at least makes me doubt in finding people who accept that.
and i for myself are still not ready for pvp yet :(

I decided to stay in Gladsheim for the first time and stick to my plan to establish a germanspeaking fulltime RP Guild with now a Lord Founder House as it´s base at the Central of Gladsheim.
Although it's more or less a ghosttown until, i stick to the plan because i just like the wunter biome and to a small degreee also that it is what it is.

As i said to "others" who offered me a place, and both - the ones in Kahli and the other PoT, are very attractivce places - time will tell.

I'm too much undecided, so i stay where i am atm.

Don't you sweat it, @Stundorn -- not one bit :) Perhaps one day you'll decide to take over a village as a small outpost to your larger ventures elsewhere. That way you guys have an outpost in an RP-PvP area to dabble in political pvp yet stay mostly away from it as a permanent thing. I'll be rewriting my write-up due to recent inspiration from House Serenite and how they're taking over/reserving a village as an outpost -- in fact, so much that I'll no longer be calling them villages (since that is confused with village lots) and will in fact call them outposts. Also, I like that an established guild claimed an outpost, and was so very happy to provide them their free house so that they could issue it to a person in need from within their organization when the time comes. I'll be removing any mention of the requirement that it be a small guild, and only that their guild that claims the outpost uses the free property for someone in need within their organization. Hmmmm. That sounded VERY rambled... rambly. Ramblified.

In any case, no worries! And I look forward to bumping into you in-game :)

I have been in Kahli exploring all location and the town looks awesome! Unfortunately roleplaying in your non-native language is really hard. I'm an old tabletop roleplay player and I love it, but I always hear myself a bit dull everytime I try to rp in english.

I spent 2.5 years stationed in Germany with the US Army around Kornwestheim, just north of Stuttgart, and I never really learned to speak German, which I regret as one of my family lines is German. The German people that I got to know always impressed me with their abilities in language, especially English and French. Many of them understood the rules of English grammar far better than I ever could.

Updated the map to reflect @Gorthyn 's preference to change his outpost's name from Kahli Stronghold to Kahlinburh and inserted references to his forming guild, the Kahlinweard. I'm very much looking forward to see where he goes with this!

Also, if you have a chance, check out what @Adam Crow did with his village lot in Boreus village -- amazing work and it makes his outpost highly defensible!
